I'm pretty sure we can bug Nissan Jap for crash test results, we just need to see if DOT would accept them, and when i emailed them they just sent me a lot of links

I am pretty sure that's not the case. If it was, MotoRex would have gone that route. Those guys are pretty smart and I bet the checked that ave. If you find out anything different let us know.

1,500,000 dollars? You gotta be kidding me. I read that MotoRex spent only 390,000 crash testing (4 cars).

OF COURSE THEY WANT 1.5 MILLION!!! b/c if they gave it to you at the cost they paid for it then their results and company become totally useless b/c everyone can then import skylines. Welcome to the american way, live it and love it or move to another country

This thread is moot!

All,

I saw in one of the big car rags at the magazine rack, that the Skyline will be in the states next year as an $80,000 Infinity. They even had an artisit's impression.

If you ask me though, the skyline isn't near worth 80 large! I would buy a Z06 and a nice BMW for that price!

(Although if I move back to Japan next year I may have to buy a used one for a more reasonable $40k.)

Al

You talking about Road & Track maybe? I have the new one in front of me right now and they do show one of the many pictures that has been floating around the net. They don't mention $80K tho or what the price might be, just how much it is now "In Japan, the all-wheel-drive Skyline GT-R sells for approximately $52,000.".

I wish as the writer of that article state's wish for the GT-R to remain in the $50K range, but I have to disagree with you on "If you ask me though, the skyline isn't near worth 80 large!". Ya the current Skyline may not be worth paying more than the MSRP of the Japanese market, but here in the states they are selling the NSX for more than that.

From your time spent in Japan I'm sure you have seen all the coverage on Skyline's Vs. NSX Soo fun to watch.

Well if the NSX can sell for $80K+ then I would pay the same for the Skyline. Just my opinion of course I'm just happy to see Nissan finally bringing the car I have loved as a child here to the states.

Street scene in Japan

While living in Japan, it was cool to see the street racing scene up close. The skyline crowd is very similar to the 5.0L mustang scene of the mid-90s. They are heavily mod'd gear-heads. They take the base modle R-32s and 33s and mod them out. They end up with some killer machines!

You also see a lot of Silvas, (240SX I believe). I owned a few different 5.0s over the years and had a blast. I could really empathize with these young Japanese guys. They love their cars!

Unfortunately I am getting to old and have too much to lose to street race anymore. Make mine the track...

All those nights those guys were racing and keeping me awake was payback for the sins of my youth I guess!
