Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?

SPL= sound presure levels, "going for SPL" means you are more occupied with Numbers on the Mic or preceived loudness than clean quality bass.

SQ= sound quality means clean, smooth, undistorted bass which extends low. alot has to do with the driver but more has to do with the enclosure and the enclosrues reaction to the vehicle along with the listeners personal preferance.

SQL means retaining clean smooth bass while still having lots of preveived loudness, not nessicarily loud on the mic. though it can mean loud on the Mic while retaining clean output.

Step up to the W3s at least. It's worth the extra cost!

driving a 10 to do a 15s job? wouldn't that distort the hell outta it? and prob blow it out sooner? i mean, i'm no die-hard expert, but thats what i think would happen if u push a 10 that much.

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?

it has nothing to do with the size of the driver as to how long it lasts vs how loud it is. asl ong as you dont go over the drivers power handling and dont abuse it it will last forever or untill the mechanical parts deteriorate.
however 1 12 needs twice as much power to get as loud as 1 15 in theory, so if the power needed exceeds its powerh andleing then yes, it will blow eventually (sooner than later depending on how far over the limit). but this is by surface area only, this assumes similar efficency and Xmax and enclosure Qtc's (if sealed) and tunings/proportional volumes if ported.
