I havent had any good experiences with audiobahn and visonik isnt known for quality.
You get what you pay for but for under 400 bucks for the whole setup you might be in for problems. |

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
Audiobahn sucks unless you get the immortals or externals and they are overpriced and theres still better stuff than that. Visonik the same. That and all in one kits are POS. This sub only cost about 100 and not only would it destroy the brands your looking at these would actually sound good. Audiobahn sounds like someone farting in a pvc pipe and then having it amplified in other words shitty.
http://www.ascendantaudio.com/archive/Atlas%2012.htm Dont buy a sub just because its power rating is insane this sub will outperform most mainstream shit with only 300watts and it doesnt need a big box. Look at this list look more into the good and highly recommended lists. http://myweb.cableone.net/grogers/abr.html One thing ive learned is dont waste money on something cheap look into whats out there and people recommend youl be better off in the long run. And oh yeah if your looking nothing but bass than i can show you some stuff thats good buts its not exactly 130. Theres a few other brands with subs under 130.

![]() I got 2 Cadence 12" competition Subs off ebay for 129.99 (for both incl. shipping). $100 Bucks for a box I forgot how much for amp but was like 150-200 for a jbl 600.1 Cheap subs break and burn, as do the amps, plus they sound like someone farting on a hardwood floor. Was a good setup, sold to my brother, good Bass. I Reccomend the JBL amps for cheap, good power. Oh yeah and if your gonna have big bass, expect big time rattles. Invest in some sound deadening, ie dynamat. Those rattle will drive you nuts after a while. Good bass + Lots of rattles =

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
15" type r would prolly pwn all in that price range.
but if you cant afford to power it (which it sounds liek you cant), then a 15" comp VR would be loud too with 4-500 rms. my best advice for you is to save your moeny. you have no idea how many times youll change your setup (aka HUGE waste of money) if you buy somethin mediocre or worse first.

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
Hell he could get an atlas 15 push about 400 to it and it would be just as good as a type r. You could also look into lower line RE subs, www.reaudio.com.

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
welll.. its kinda hard to find one since they dont sell em. check classified ads everywhere though and im sure you can find one.. and i highly doubt an atlas can match type r spl... actually ill say it cant. but dont get me wrong if it was up to SQ id choose an atlas before an R in a heartbeat.
and i think an atlas would def do better on 400rms for sure. but yeah to the orig. poster if you can fit a 15 then thats your best bet. with a super tight budget 15s are the way to go cause theyre not a whole lot more than 12s but hae almost double the cone area

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
With the righ setup you can make a 10 hit as hard as a 15 granted i wont last lon or sound all that great but it can be done. BUt il agree with you yeah the atlas is geared towards sq which might not be what ricerkid is after. Thats the only thing i dont like about alpine subs is that there made more for spl than sq and well any sub cn achieve a certain level of spl but the thing is can that same sub sound good while doing it. when i say sound good i meen no distortion and subs can distort, when you can hear something other than bass i cant stand systems you can hear from a mile away and when they get up on you you cant understand a single lyric or musical note other than the bass and 9 times out 10 sounds like complete shit. If he wants straight up bass then hes not getting something that can outperform most of the other subs for less than 250,you can get subs cheaper that can make tons of bass but they usually sound like shit but i mean good sounding loud bass.

Re: Good Subs For $130? Is It Possible?
He could always look into the incriminator 187's only 139 for a 12 and ive heard good things about ar far as bass. Either that or a set of RE subs not sure on prices except for the xxx but im waiting to see the price for the new ones when its available.

i was also thinking of buying audiobahn subs for cheap, but so many pple advised against it, and told me to go away from mainstream subs. my friend got some JL10w0's and they sound great. i'm thinking of buying the same thing.
