Speaking of hating black people, I am noticing alot of folks saying that on the media. That the aid did not get there in time cause its just black folks, WTF? But upon looking at side by side pics of whats shown in the media, I am begining to wonder myself.

Lat night I noticed on Real Time with Bill Maher that he showed what the media is doing. You have one photo of two black folks in the water with a case of pepsi and a black bag and it says, that they are looting, while the next pic shows two white folks holding the same item, and the caption says, nothing about looting, that they are doing everything they can for survival. WTF?

Yea I saw that too and totally agree about it. You watch on the news and they show cops beating black people for looting then a white person walks by and starts crying that they need to live. It's an afull mess down there and I hate to say but I honestly do think that it's partially an issue of race and class. The RedCross and relief organizations are saying that the supplies didn't get there because they were using it to rescue people. BULLSHIT how come the airlines didn't open up and say were gonna fly people out untill the storm hits and we can't fly anymore? If they can fly in their planes full of supplies after, then howcome they couldn't fly people out afterward. New Orleans is a real shitty area made up of predominatly black poor. And it's like if this was fucking Nantucket or something you can almost guarantee that they would have had the relief op. in full swing before the storm even hit. It prolly didn't help that a lot of our national guard forces were oversees too. I don't give a shit what Bush said, if we had enough troops back home, then why did we need to fly in troops from Iraq and Afghanistan? And what I find even more helarious about this whole thing is that countries across the world are offering to send help, even cuba. But when shit happens to other countries we don't generally do anything. And even better, is all these relief organizations want money. Nothing else. When asked what people can do they say "give us cash." Fuck that, If I had a truck I'd fill it with supplies and drive it down there, no way am I gonna give somebody money especially the RedCross after the whole 9/11 fiasco. Peace-

It's not BS, turn on the news or at least in the past few days, every black person you saw that was looting was stealing material items, while every white person you see looting is taking food and water. This is in no way true, but that is what the news is showing. Why are people so pregidous? Because stereotypes didn't get made up. I'm not a racist but it's true that there are more black people in prision than white, that is true because generally there is a higher percentage of impovrished blacks then there are whites, and when people are in a situation where they feel crime is the only option, then they resort to crime. The world isn't perfect and as long as we have hillbilly's preching that blacks are the enemy and excepting them to live down to their expectations then there will be racism. Get out of the bubble, and do something about it. I'm about as white as it gets, but have gotten into full out brawls over white people calling a black person a nigger in a derogatory meaning. Either do something to make it stop, or join the crowd that says "i don't want to get involved" and stand on the sidelines and let it continue to happen. I saw that and couldn't believe it. You know people need to put all of their political views aside during tragedies like this. Quit trying to play the blame game. If anything is going to get accomplished all hatred and political indiferences need to be put aside and work with each other.

And if Kanye or any other "black" celebrity is so concerned with Bush hating Black people why the fuck aren't they in New Orleans rendering any sort of help? exactly. I know the purpose of this thread isn't to debate whether there was racism in our lack of response, but its a valid question, espically when you consider how poorly disaster relief was handled.
