I believe her and Will are back in College Station now. White97ex is up in the Dallas area as well as I am. We were thinking about having a meet but never could get a date set.

It's really awesome you actually got to be around an Enzo to take pics of it, most people could only dream of getting such an opportunity! Good luck on the model, I'm sure it's going to turn out awesome, just be sure to take lots of pics during the buildup, it's always cool seeing all the steps.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

On one hand, I never thought I'd see such disrespect for a person's personal beliefs. On the other hand, I'm really not surprised to see it here. Personally, I think it's awesome that the owner is so deeply religious and thankful to God for everything he has. It's rare to see someone as fortunate as him to be truly thankful for what he has. And no, he's no televangelist, he owns an oil company. I'm not positive, but I think he has a fish on his Murcielago as well, and all three of the cars (including the McLaren) have "God is Awesome" stickers on them. More power to him, I say. The Mclaren's plate reads "M Laren" and the Murcielago reads "Mercie" (French for thank you)

fujimituner235, I'm from West Texas, a little ol' po-dunk town called Midland. Nice try on the "HIC" part, but my name is Civic + Chic. It's one of those wit things.

And yes, I feel very fortunate to be able to crawl all over that Enzo, taking pictures and notes so I'll be sure the model is perfect. For this model, I'm going to try to put up a seperate webpage with reference and progress pics. I need to secure the webspace first, and find the time to get it all together. I'm not going to set a timeline for it, but I'd like to have them done before next summer. I still plan on doing a double build, one for me and one for him. As I type Will's in the other room assembling the desk I finally broke down and bought so I'll have more than a lapdesk to work on. Pics of the new workstation coming soon...

And yes, somehow, I will make a 1:24 Jesus fish for this model. And I will be proud of it.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

All the drama over the fish is funny... Some would say he is very dedicated to his religion, others would say that he is not obeying the lord by spending his money on himself and not to serve his lord. I say let the man do what he wants, he'll find out what the big man thinks when he gets there.
I do see what Freakmech is saying though, the fish is mostly seen on your common every day grocery getter or college student econo car.... I would probally get a chuckle out of it when I rolled up on it at a light. At least It matches his car and is not a faded chrome plated plastic stick-on.

Good luck with the build, I know it will be a beauty. Are you going to start on the "Mercie" after this one?

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

I mentioned to the mechanic that Fujimi makes a kit for the Murcie, but he's concerned about the paint match. It's a really pretty burgundy red. In fact, I just bought the kit while on vacation in LA. Finally found it in a hobby shop. We'll see how that goes, if he's happy with the Enzo. I'm afraid I'll get stuck building all his cars; he's also had at one point or another a Diablo and a Countach. I do know the man is very generous to his church and his friends; he recently bought for his mechanic a pristine 1957 Chevy Bel Air because it was the guy's first car...just because.

Funny thing though...I've never actually met the guy, just his mechanic.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

Well, got my new workbench set up, if it wasn't 3:30 AM I'd be finishing the Viper!! As is, I'm so tired I don't trust myself not to do something stupid, so it'll have to wait...again... *sigh* You can also see the C6 in line, as well as a Chevelle for my dad and a Corvette for a friend, along with the new Enzo kit.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

Enough of the fish talk. Religion is a touchy subject and not relevent in this subforum.

You sure are going to be busy there 99civichic. If you do ahead and build the Murcielago, the colour can be matched by any automotive paint store, just need to get the code. That would also make a good excuse to check the real thing out.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

We really never need a reason to go check it out. We just go there and look. The mechanic is a nice guy and lets us check out just about whatever we want. He would have put the Enzo on the lift for us but there was already something on the lift.

This looks wayyyy to neat and clean to be a 'work' bench. I'd call it a display bench . Wow you are organized....My work bench, as well as most of the others I've seen here look like a toddler was left alone with it for a day.

And hey, if you come across something in your live inspection of the car that you didnt realize just from reference pics, please post as I'm going to start my first enzo soon.

Oh and about matching the color of the Murcie why don't you check out Cobra Colors. I ordered some Murcielago Verde Artemis from them not too long ago.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

Well, keep in mind that I just got it set up, so maybe it's a little neater and well, more arranged, than usual...but not much. I can't stand being disorganized, I get really frustrated when I can't find something and then my modelling suffers because of it. Two years ago for Christmas my mom bought me a ton of little plastic organizers, I have yet to find a use for most of them though! I'll have to take a pic in a week or two when I'm actually working.

ImolaEK, that's actually Will's compressor...but I don't know if he'll ever build again (he's a GT4 fanatic) so for now I'm the only one using it. I love it!

Here's the Murcielago:

Doesn't really capture the color, but I have yet to see a pic of these cars that really does. The pearl yellow in particular doesn't really photograph nearly as well as it looks for real.

Re: Picked up the Enzo model...

The irony in the license plate is hillarious. Mercie = Mercy (Religion) = Mercy (when racing). I wish I could meet this guy, or even his mechanic, they both seem pretty cool.
