At the stage now where I can start to assemble the chassis. Managed to take this outside picture with most of the parts dry fitted. Looks pretty good, so all OK to start fixing with glue, the brake discs are already fitted, and are a fantastic fit.

All the parts taken off, and placed ready to be fitted, exhaust was a two piece part, so glued together with CA glue as it was hard to remove the paint around the part I needed to glue. I also glued with CA the chrome exhaust tips. I washed the engine with black ink, allowed to dry and then dry brushed with X11 Chrome silver to bring out the raised edges. I then rubbed the entire block with a lint free cloth to further polish.

Final picture of fully assembled under chassis of my yellow Honda 2000, I also touched up a few areas on the brake calipers, added some black ink into the recess, and then allowed the entire chassis to dry. After which I dusted the entire part to removed finger prints, and admired my work..!! LOL. Picture is bad, and had to use a flash, so not a great shot, as it is now night where I am, but should give you all an idea of how it now looks.

Now, this is perhaps some of my best work. I know that when compared to some of the guys on this forum, it just can’t compete. And my masking is not completely accurate to the build guide, but it’ll do me..

Also, no picture as it would have been pointless, as it is now night, I’ve started to polish the body. Taking a long time, as the hood has a good amount of orange peel. I’ve had to carefully sand with 3200 micro mesh. Looks good now though. When I can get an outside shot I’ll post a picture.

Looks awesome. I just finished pulling off the masking tape on mine and it looks pretty cool also. The center is silver, and everything else is black. I can't wait to see some more progression here!

Really nice!
The attention you have paid to detailing and detail; painting the underside has paid off big time!

When you finish, remember to display it on a mirrored base so that you can see the details and not the shoeboxes I keep mine in

Thank you for the great replies so far. Really appreciate them all. I’ve taken an outside shot of the under chassis today.

I’ve also completed the body compound and polish. Need to wax the entire body, but will wait to do that until I’ve done the black trim. I’m also going to spray the entire underside of the body flat black. I’ve also done the panel lines, but I was thinking how best to do this. Black ink might have looked too much on such a bright colour. So instead I mixed 3 parts lemon yellow in with some orange to make a darker yellow, and applied this to the lines instead. It does bring them out if you look, but it’s not like in your face. Let me know what you think, as I can always do them again a little darker if need be, but I don't really want them to dark, as I think it can look a little toy like if they are too dark.

Also a shot with the wheels, going for the chrome was mentioned before, and I’ve also picked out the door locks with silver.

Will make a start on the black trim, and get all the lights and body parts completed now.

LOL. No thanks, I'll kept mine.

Well, I've just had my "VERY" first real panic attack with this build. I thought the yellow paint work was ruined. I had started to detail the body, side indicators etc. I made a total mess of the first indicator, as the build guide for the euro version of the car called out for white. I put the first coat on, went ok, but didn't cover too well. Put another coat and what a mess I made of it. Tried to wipe it off, didn't work. So broke out the acrylic thinner.. Got a cloth, and applied the thinner to the cloth and wipe the white off. White was still not moving, so another wipe with thinner, oh yeah.. That was a good idea.. Still whte alright, bloody white primer. Took the white paint, yellow TS spray right to the primer.. Also went just a little over the actual indicator. Recovery plan needed. So, now they are orange, US version with a bit of black ink around the indicator to hide the primer. What total muck up. Lesson learnt there... Painfully.

Bad picture, as it is a night shot, but it looks OK ish. Not bad enough to warrant a paint strip, but not what I intended really.

I've now had to paint the front lights with a section of orange as well. shame really - it was going really well. But its now recovered from, and as I say, lesson learnt.

Well saved; and indicator is better in orange than in white, I think!

Not a big update this one. I do also again thank you all for the great comments. Since the horrid panic attack last night, I’ve slowed down a little and I’m now taking it a little easy. I was starting to race ahead. I’ve also become a little edgy with the body now, as I can’t afford another mistake, as I really DO NOT want to have to strip the paint. It was such an arse to apply.

I’ve done the wheel badges, applied lots of micro sol to make them conform to the chrome, as I’ve had it before where they have just floated off. Well stuck on this time. Also done the front lights. This is going to be the first complaint I make about this kit. Just how hard is it to get the chrome off to then paint the sections black, but leave the chrome for the clear orange? I had one attempt and after nearly cutting my thumb open, it was – “sod that” and it got painted as is. And they weren’t easy to paint either.

I did the rear lights, and the rear top tailgate light, and applied a few coats of enamel smoke, to darken it up a little, also dry fitted the rear window. This kit is the hardtop kit, and I still wish I had the true soft-top. But it will do.

I also re-polished the body, as there were a few light scratches here and there. It’s got a good shine now. Will do the black trim soon, but not looking forward to that at all..!!
