wickedlou your wrong about cat backs

Hey wickedlou, i own a 96 accord ex vtec sedan, and after installing my tanabe,"cat-back", exhaust system i went straight to the dyno, 157 HP at the wheels, thats a jump from my stock 145..... just lettin you know the experience i had, maybe different with other cars or maybe i just got a real good cat back exhaust, but all i know is i gained 12 horsepower, and i can feel it.

Hey, I have a Tanabe too!! I haven't really found too many other people willing to shell out that kind of $$$ just for an exhaust!! My philosophy is "If you're gonna do it at all, do it right!!"

What kind did you get? I have the DTM and LOVE IT!!!!!

Cool Hmm

Well I was on a tight budget too and I got this awesome muffler from here:
http://www.customimages-online.com/c...oduct=Mufflers

Universal Muffler: Dragger US$ 119.95

It sounds REALLY AWESOME. I removed it's silencer and it sounds even better. You can hear it well enough when not even gasing it. With the intake I have, it really makes your car sound like a race car. You can order that muffler or others online from that link. We have a local custom images store in our mall so I just went there and got it....the only one left. I was lucky since another guy wanted to buy one right after I bought it but wasn't lucky enough.

If you want to spend $100 on a muffler, I really suggest putting about $30 more into it and getting a good muffler because it will PAY OFF, believe it. There is a reason why some mufflers cost $300, but that shouldn't be your reason to get those since you want a decent performance muffler just like I wanted.

I've seen these mufflers around. They look they have respectable build quality. I'd like to see some dyno charts to see what kind of airflow increases and horsepower gains then can bring to a given car. For me, that's what it really comes down to: SHOW ME THE MONEY.

Hmm, well I am not sure if I can give you some dyno charts (does it cost anything to do this? and where do you do this?), but I can tell you that the engine somehow seems like it has about 170 HP now instead of 150 it had. Don't forget the intake addon too.

Well I don't know, I am just a regular driver and can't really tell too much from speed gains but I DID notice a difference when I installed the muffler. The intake has more room to breath and somehow seems to work easier now. You can feel the muffler even while you are driving the car in the low RPM's, and it sounds even better! I haven't really heard my car going fast since the intake sound kicks in and distracts.

hehe, well doh. Anyhow... :frog:

No offense man, but you cant gain 20 hp by simply installing a muffler and an intake. I think that around 10 (MAX) is what you got.
