I passed up on one of those a few years ago for a paltry $150.00. I have looked through one and they are beautiful looking kits. Seen a couple go through eBay over the years for big bucks. The Mazda is a lot less rare and the Acura is probably the easiest of the 1/12 stuff to find.

Ah, well if it is the slot car kit which Hiro mentions, that is different, I thought you meant a plastic model kit as we are used to seeing here.

Forgot about those, I have the Lotus 40 (a lotus 30, with 10 more problems), and had the Mclaren Elva. Never saw most of the rest, but I know Ron has some of them.

I'm sure it was a kit, with model chassis. It may have been one of those battery powered things. Wait until I get the pictures.

I picked up an 1/24 Opel Calibra DTM "Bye Bye, Keke" made by UT models for AUS$25. A workmate was clearing out some of his models and he was happy to see it go. Its in mint condition and all the parts are still in the plastic

Re: the rarest kit youve ever seen?

I saw some Modeller's resin kits on eBay which were ending at almost £200. Lancia Delta S4, Ford RS200, Renault 5 Turbo. I would love to build one but not for that price.

I also saw a Tamiya 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 "Clear view" model. In the description it said only 20 of this limited edition were ever made.

Re: the rarest kit youve ever seen?

I know none of you folks here really care about anything other than sports and imports, but I have an original issue of a George Barris, My Mother the Car kit. it is basically the same as the RMC "T" Touring kit only with all stock wheels and suspension and a custom "Porter" hood and grill. My Mother (pun intended) found it at a garage sale for $0.25.

Protar Derbi. I know it was made and is one of the 3 Protar bike kits I still don't have, and I have never seen one.

Those Modellers models are awesome. I hope they re-release some of the Gr.B cars again, they were expensive originally but are stratospheric now.

There are definitely a lot more than 20 of the clear view McLaren. Nicest thing about that kit is the pre-painted Senna driver figure that it also comes with. It is very rare, much rarer than the Ferrari but if you have the money you can still find them. I know at least one online store that has one for sale for $850.00

IHMO, the "rarest" kit is the one you want the baddest but cannot find anywhere and when you do find it you can't afford it!!!

Based on production numbers I have no idea what the rarest kit is. Many of the old MPC, AMT and Johan annuals sell for ridiculuously high prices when they are unbuilt and in mint condition.

I have a few annuals that I have paid $70-80 US for and have even paid $75 US for a nice built up MPC '69 Dodge Coronet R/T. That kit sells in the $200-400 US range mint unbuilt.

The rarest kits that I have seen is the Tamiya Clear Enzo, or the 1/8 Pocher F40, with the autograph add on kit, it went for like $3000 on eBay.
