I just feel that the USA is supposedly "one nation under god"
I don't claim to be a christian. But, the christian god doesn't want people killing people. If we are One Nation Under God, then who the hell are we to judge him, and especially dish out that sort of punishment?

As far as leaving the US because I'm unhappy, I think that is the wrong attitude. The government is here to serve you and me, not corporations.

Some other men have felt a similar way.....:

Unless you become more watchful in your states and check this spirit of monopoly and thirst for exclusive privileges, you will in the end find that the most important powers of government have been given or bartered away, and the control of your dearest interests have been passed into the hands of these coporations." --Andrew Jackson

"It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from
falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the
Government from falling into error."
- U.S. Supreme Court in American Communications Association v. Douds,
339 U.S. 382,442

Unless we change direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed -- Chinese proverb

To address your first comment, I agree with you that we are nobody to pass judgement. But I believe in this case, there really is no judgement to decide. Fact 1. He took out innocent people. Fact 2. He blew up the building or conspired to it. Fact 3. He acknowledges that he did no wrong.

I'm sorry but I don't think I'm passing judgement when I say he deserves to die. You bring about your demise based on your actions. Therefore, if you take a life, you lose yours. I go by a few old sayings, "You live by the sword, you die by the sword". and "An eye for eye".

And as for the leaving part, it's not the wrong attitude. Yes the government is here to work for us. However, the reality is, the government does it's own thing. The courtesy and other things are just the formality to make you believe your voice is heard. You and I can debate over this issue over and over and nothing about how this government is run is going to change. Now what I said is not to be taken literally, just that complaining about how things are is going to accomplish nothing. People lobby everyday over topics which for the most part go unheard. And one thing, the only time this government ever makes a move is when it serves their best interest. I'll leave you with that thought.

I still think executing him lets him off easy.
No pain, and quick.
I would have rather seen him serve life in prison. I honestly feel that would be much worse than getting a shot and going to sleep.
In prison, man can create hell for a person. He will still die someday, and still have to deal with god.

So, maybe we have to change how we carry out executions, I feel a firing squad is fair, and it should definetly be carried out in public so that we the people become more connected with it... Realize more that it was us that killed McVeigh.

One must kill publicly or confess that one does not feel authorized to kill. - Albert Camus

As for 'eye for an eye' mentality, (and the rest of this thread) I do generally agree (somebodies gotta be devils advocate
) but you gotta watch out.
There is one country I know of living that way. Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, has those rules in place. Eye gougings, cut off hand for theft, etc. Oh, Yeah...they also outlawed music and dance.

Yeah, think of all the anal butt-rapings he would have received in prison.

Ah, well at least he's gone, but what does that solve? Killing people like that only kills them. It dosen't sounds very harsh. I mean that some people would sacrifice themselves for lesser cause. I don't like the guy, and I think he should have stayed in prison for life (Not the 25 Years life BS) but life as in until he dies and have his nuts beaten with a pointy stick everyday.

From what I remember of my Criminal Justice classes, most criminals don't consider the consequences of thier actions. They think in the present and act in ways that will fulfill their wants and needs at the time. Therefore, capital punishment rarely serves as a deterrent for the people that society would intend it to.

Also, McVeigh was acting in "retaliation" against the government for their actions in the seige at Waco, years before. He, and anyone else like him, would probably see themselves as martyrs, as victims of a corrupt government.
