is piston slap finally gone for good??

I got rid of my 02 Z71 with piston slap.
I have heard the 04 and 05 are free and clear of this issue.
Does any one have some info on this before i go spend money on a new 05.?

I heard they are now using a teflon coated sleave, but if that is true wouldnt the teflon eventualy wear off like it does on everything else its been put on.?

Your opinions are appreciated....

Teflon does wear off and yes the 04 and I believe the 05 still have that rattle.I was looking at an 04 and when the salesmen started up the truck it rattled like A diesel.
My advice to you is to stay away from it. Dont waste your money.!!!
I dont understand why chevy hasnt fixed that problem its been around since 99.Almost 6 years with that same complaint and they still keep building them like that.Something is really wrong. That piston slap really got me every morning. I hated to start the truck up.It sounded like an ol Cat diesel.
I got rid of my 02 also and winded up with A full size 2004 Nissan Titan ext cab v8 305 hp that will do circles around my silverado. Hate to say it guys but its A better truck..Go check it out for yourself you will be impressed.

I have 3 2004 's with the 5.3 and no noise in any of them. This has been fixed from what I can tell. And I looked at the Titans and sorry but this will be a great truck in about 1 or 2 more model years but now there are several issues with theses trucks " rattles and transmission issues check the web you will see several reviews stating this same thing.

Unhappy

Sorry I did not see any info on that Titan Issue maybe you can put up A link.Sure would like to see it...

Sorry I just did A google search and it came up with two hits on the nissan titan transmission problems but no one that owned one had anyhting bad to say about it.All it came up with was with one person who did own one pulling A 22 ft boat over 75 miles an hour and he was wondering why he had to give it so much throttle to keep it at that speed..DUH!!
They only complaint that I have heard of is yes the earlyier models in 2004 had problems with A little rattle in the dash. That was already fixed in the later models.I have A later model Titan and there is no rattle in the dash but I would have preferred A rattle in the dash than A rattle in the engine....(CHEVY)
And by the way the 2004's still have A rattle in the engine because I was going to buy one and the dealership. They had A demo truck that they were allowing people to test drive. I believe the truck had around 6k miles on it and when they started it up there was that rattle. They said it was all with in specs...

use synthetic high quality oil with additive...should get rid of it...comes from unequal expansion of engine cylinder sleeve and piston due heat from combustion

Yes Piston slap is still and issue that GM is working on, even on the new Vortec engines.

No, synthetic oil is not the answer to piston slap. It seems to work much better than fossel oil, but it isn't a 'fix" for piston slap.

Yes the Titans are excellent trucks. I've driven one, and I have to admit, it was powerful and fast, and very comfortable to drive.

The Toyota Tundra was also very comfortable and very well mannered. But it seems a little underpowered to me. As a "Gentlemans Pickup" it makes a fine ride, too.

I'm looking at buying two pick ups this year. Both will be Crew-cab diesel, dullies, and I haven't desided on the brand yet. As I've explained in another thread, I'm looking at the Ford F350 or F450, the Dodge 3500 Cummins, and the Chevy/GMC 3500HD
