The compression is too high to even bother trying to boost those two engines effectively. And SHRINK YOUR FUCKING SIG. Quote:

juiceman123, if you have read anything we have posted, you'll see...
The LS can handle more boost than GSR stock...for one, it has a lower c/r. Higher C/R's make a motor more prone to detonation...the result, is being able to safly run less boost in general. Denonation is an engine killer. To make a Long story short, the B18B1 can handle upwards of 12psi when tuned properly. Get it, run it at 8 or 10psi daily driving, and crank it to 12psi @ the track. That is upwards of 250-275HP, in a 2000lbs car...that's enough to take out your buddies H22/H23 in his comparitivly heavy 2600-2700lbs teg. With a GSR...your looking @ 8psi max, in general, as the considered safe limit. A K20 and Type-R...if you want to rn boost, don't even bother, for one, the compression Ratio is very high. A B16A can also handle about 8psi safly. Now, a 1st gen B16A will swap into your crx, since both are of the same age, use a machincal speedo and cable clutch. This will result in less $$ spent on the motor and swap, and more on the turbo. Now, if you have the money and are willing to spend it, the LS set-up will most likely proved you with the highest safe boost level and the most power of the above choices. Of all the above choices, I'd go LS, if you are cash conscious, then see how much cheaper the 1st gen JDM B16A set-up is. Don't both with the K20, Type-R or GSR...and if you value the ablilty to corner at all, don't even think about an H22...way to much understeer. So to answer your question, GSR or LS....We're saying go LS. The 1st Gen JDM B16A (88-91) will probably be the easiest to install in your car. BTW...Ricochet...your sig is the funniest thing I've ever seen...that's great man....where'd you get that? |
