I was kinda a tomboy growing up and I was always tagging along (or antagonizing) my older brother. He was always working on cars so I handed him tools (or hid them) depending on what kind of mood he put me in. When I was 5 someone asked me what kind of car I wanted when I could drive...since I didn't know makes or models I just said "a turbo!"

I realized I was a car nut when I was 10. Started working for my dad, buying car mags, and finding any car site I could. They became my obsession.
When I was about 6 or 7, my dad asked me what kind of car I wanted when I could drive, and I said a 1967 Chevy Camaro, but any Camaro would do just fine.

Ahhhh.......the first time I saw a Porsche...that definately begun my obsession....... my father would take me to the auto parts store and i'd help with minor tasks with his old Toyota Land Cruiser, When we finally started attending the Vintage Races i was really hooked.....
I decided(as I am apt to do) that Girls can do anything that boys can do...and sometimes better so I vowed that I would be a race car driver, and I'm still working to that goal....my classic ralley Lancia Flavia should be ready in a year or so but for the time being I autoX my SE-R and make fun of riceboys that try to outdrive the little girl

I knew I was a car nut when I heard about car accidents, and the first thing I would say was "What kind of car?"

Started by playing with Matchbox cars, then watching Bathurst, then when I learned I could power slide a 998cc Datsun 100a Cheery I figured I could drive anything.......

It was funny, cause at like 6 in the evening my mom would answer the phone and be like: "There's someone on the phone for you from JAGUAR ??!?!!!"

When did you know you were a car nut?
lol... I did the same thing. me and my best friend went to the local bookstore and bought some DuPont magazines... (this was like, two years ago).. we called every (there were tons) toll-free number to exotic car dealerships we could find... I got a ton of stuff in the mail. One person hung up and told me to stop calling them. I had no idea what they were talking about as I called them once. Musta been some other kid wanting his stuff too.

Anyway, it was great fun. Some guys were nice, promising to send in stuff but I never got it, and others were not so nice and just sent it, even though I had a little kid voice then.

I guess I was a nut before that, but that is when it really started.
