Re: Redline And Shift Points
I believe any accent after 2000 has a rev limiter and probably the models before. Web Tech on the HyundaiUSA site will tell you for sure; I guess it used to be known as a governor to prevent the engine from redlining. I've never had it kick in. It's supposed to slow down the engine when it reaches a certain RPM. I think redline on accent is 6,000 but have no tach so I defer to someone else's expertise there. I've taken 3rd up to 60 but wouldn't recommend doing 80 in 3rd often. Then again I'm not speed racer i.e., I bought a car with a 1.5 Litre v4. Nough said.

Shift Points
It ain't a Ferrari and it isn't like I could put a C-note on the dash board and run the gears and the g force is going to keep you from snatching it but the car can get going in a hurry if it has to. The stick is the trick. 1st doesn't offer much but 2nd and 3rd will get you going quickly. I don't drive like this often but sometimes getting onto 95 or an entry ramp I need something to happen when I hit the gas. I find 3rd to be the most productive gear. FWIW Peace
