didnt they stop making any 289's in 05 and start making 302's for gt's?

No.

The GT has the same 4.6 with a SOHC 3-valve design.

What you're thinking about is the GT-R with the 5.0 Cammer crate engine.

they stopped making 289's in the 60's... the current motor is a 281. they put the 281 in the gt with the 3 valve design. muscletang is right about the GT-R concept. they also put the 302 cammer motor in the grand am racing mustang.

well somebody told me at the ford dealership about the 05's having 5.0's. and i always just assumed that since it was a 4.6 litre that it was a 289 but i always wondered why they would put a 281 in a saleen.
