Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
Heres a tip
For every 100lbs removed from your car you can drop up to a tenth in the 1/4 mi. Now go backwords by adding weight and youre going slower. Another one if you guys didnt know. For every 10lb of unsprung weight removed you may see a tenth sec drop in the 1/4. That is a lightweight driveshaft, tires/rims, etc...

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
Since we are at the topic about weight...
Does anyone know how much my stock steelies rims weigh? Its a 14" for the civic. I know its around 20 pounds I think, but I'm not too sure. I was planning to change to lighter ones when I have the money.

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
If you compare weight and size of the occupants, ponder this, my CRX is '89 b16a with 200 horses and lightened, it weighs just 1500 pounds and I am 6'3 220 pounds, What is my quater mile time? 12.6 quick enough? and one more thing racing with people in your car gives you bragging rights just make sure that your friends are small and lightweight.

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
i usually ask ppl to ride in the back the fatter the better. you know for traction purposes. and hp:weight ratio doesn't mean very much. its the torque that counts on the street. did you know that it takes eight horsepower for a horse to stand up?

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
the 300 pounds are removed from the glass, fenders, and the rear quarter windows as well as a lighter suspension, hence tokico springs KYB shocks, no air conditioner and very few interior pieces. Plus lightweight rims.

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
thepolishmafia1337, torque is useless unless you have rpm to let the torque do it's work. That's how you get horsepower. It's torque, multiplied by rpm and 5252 or something like that I dunno
![]() What I'm saying is that you need torque AND rpm. It's true that Honda's lack torque...but they also have higher RPM. Spyder78, you took weight out of the fenders??? Each fender weighs less than a pound on your CRX. |

Re: How much weight affects? (Did tests)
integra: i said torque is what matters on the street. ive seen torque monstor motors that produce like 250hp and like 550ft/lb of torque. with the proper gearing you can walk all over any high revving 500 or 600hp car. reason being the torque curve is much broader than the hp curve. lots of race cars produce full torque at 500rpms above idle. and they never see anything above 4800 to 5000rpms. sure they had some tall ass gear but thats how you build real motors for the street. if we come off of a light and i make full torque at 1500rpms. and you come off of the light and make the same amount of torque at 5500rpms. who do you think will be in front. ill be in 2ond gear before you hit the power band. just someting to think about. there is no right way, and there is always someone faster.
