chevrolet has a car that can take a ford on any level. the z28 has always out performed the gt, the z06 has always whomped on the cobra, hell even the coupe camaros with the six can take the baseline ponies. it works with any carline too. trucks were the only weak link in the gm lineup, until the 454 super sport came out. i betcha that an astro could take a windstar if anyone were bored enough to go out an run the two.

Yes your right but camaros and firebirds won't be top dog once the 05 mustangs come out this year.The z28 is going to have alot of trouble keeping up with the 05 supercharged mustang gt and the zo6 is going to have alot of trouble keeping up with the v-10 mustang Boss. I think ford is a little too late though, they should of done this a while back, back when mustangs were getting their ass handed to them by the GM cars since
day 1.

although dont you think it would stand to reason, that if ford had done that, chevy would have upped the anti as well??? i think ford did the smart thing, the cowardly thing, but the smart thing, to wait till there wasnt any competition, then make the kick ass car and make everyone forget about the one that just died. like putting the final nail in the coffin. well have to wait and see if there is a ressurection.

i totally agree, i think that if one of these camaro concepts that are rolling around finally go into production it will again rule over ford and spank the mustang once more.

we are all looking forward to that hopeful ressurection, now that that point is brought up tho. the camaro might not have died if the mustang was redone and the camaro redone at a higher level. maybe it would have changed sales, who knows. thinking about it is saddening and almost pointless......

there's only one problem with that.... ford has nothing above the mustang, but chevy/GM in the other hand has the corvette. ford can keep the mustang going and going in terms of tuning it up. but see GM has always put the vette above all else. when pontiac came out with the fiero if it was done right it would have outpreformed the vette in every aspect: speed and handleing. but GM would not allow this for they wanted the vette to be the premier. so if ford would have bumped it up sooner the camaro would have stayed the same. they would not have increased camaro performance to compensate they would have just put the vette after the mustang and continue to dominate. the camaro already uses chocked down versions of the corvette engines, there's not much else they could do to it and still keep it below the vette. although also you must keep in mind that it if the camaro was tuned up it would drive the price up of the camaro to the point where not as many people could afford it so your'e just hurting sales in the long run. the mustang can just keep improving with nothing to worry about, they're already useing their top engines and technology.... which is sad because they're trying and the camaro which is downplayed so much is whoopin it's ass. but bottom line the camaro would not have been taken along with the mustang in a hp struggle.

1995 gt came stock with about 215 unless it wasa cobra(235) soeven with the flows, headers, h pipe and pulleys , he m i g h t be pushing close to 250 or 270. the z28 with the flows should be around 290-300. but in the quarter....damn gt is hard to beat with an auto. specially if the z28 is granny shiftin'. dunno man...run 'em.

all righty i maybenew here but ive been onauto forms all the time. ok heres teh rumor of the 05 mustang
1. the 05 mustang is set up so that its not upgradable with ANY aftermarket brand. so the stock HP will stay the same (a rumor btw)
2. the v-10 mustang i dida search andfound that it wont be that fast. according to one owner his best run was 12.1 @ 115mph

3. GM will be unleashing new compeditors into thefray soon and also the hopeful rumor of the 2005 or 2007 camaro/firebird rebirth.

but hands downthe camaro would beat the mustang. sure it has more power but the mustang dosent have good traction. dontwant to get into tehspecs of that sooo looong

Here is the deal you have a ls1 engine thats enough said. It would take a whole hell of alot of stuff to go wrong for the ls1 to loose. I have raced two 96 cobras with lots of mods including 4.10 gears and whipped their ass with my 00 z28. The faster cobra is driven by one of the best shifters in my town. I beat him by 4 car lenghts yeah seriously. That was my first race so I messed up alot. Spun the wheels at the start, I shifted late from 1 to 2 and early from 2 to 3. I beat a supercharged 98 manual mustang gt as well. No I am not kidding or overexagerating. Its up to you whether you race. I jsut think you will kick his ass. I had only 80 series flowmaster muffler at the time of the races with the cobras. Added hypertech programmer and 160 degree stat against GT.

Oh yeah the GT had gears and Terminator exhaust and H pipe. My car is an automatic.
