Z28 vs. 2002 Mustang GT vs. LS Turbo

Yesterday morning on the way to work, turned on FC Parkway behind a Mustang GT with my friend in his Turbo LS following me. Caught the GT and pulled up beside him and we drove alongside each other for about a mile. Up ahead was a stoplight just beginning to turn red, so I figured we would go from there. I took off hard, with plenty of spin, but he just took off slow. I slowed back down and we drove alongside each other going about 40 - 45. I hear his revs drop and immediately downshift to 2nd and get ready. All this time my friend in the LS is following me pretty close. Then, the GT takes off. I take off at nearly the same time and start to pass him just as I make a clean shift into 3rd. By the end of third I'm at least a length ahead. The LS by this time has fallen pretty far back behind the GT. I run until I'm about halfway through with 4th gear and about 2 - 3 lengths up on the GT and 5 - 6 up on the LS. I slow and everyone else follows suit. The I pull onto the shoulder and let the LS pass me and get next to the GT. They cruise at around 50ish and then decide to punch it. To make a long story short, the LS loses by a bunch but I think something was wrong with his car or something b/c he said he felt like it was missing or something. Either way, plenty of fun.

I/H/E, 1.6 RR, MSD 6AL, MAF, 160 thermo, TB Bypass, !Cat(for now), Star SPEC Stage II clutch, bunch of suspension stuff, and a set of Firestone Firehawks(which are beginning to go bad)

What do you drive again? And what have you done?

Humm...I would have thought that a turbo LS would have something on that GT.

Well I believe his best was a low low 15 or very high 14. Either way, not GT territory. And plus he said he felt like the car was missing in the upper RPMs so I don't know what factor that made...
