Re: Celica GTS, worth it?

when the engine is warmed up, and you hit 6000 rpm, your cam starts running on some "lift bolts". serves the same function as putting in a big cam, but it is built in... and the name of the GTS engine is the VVTL-i, just for your own knowledge

i once had a 90 red gt...with intake headers and exhaust...and it dyno at 144hp and 162 tq....my buddy had a late 99-2000 gts with the same things i had in my car...well off the line i took him but he cuaght up and when i pulled to 3rd...he couldnt keep up...why...im not sure...but after that day he started to dump a whole lotta money into his 00gts and finally beat me 1 run after another....beacuse he now has turbo...which is nice...00 gts are nice i like them but would never own 1 cause im disappointed...after all these years they finally brought back the gts to only push 160 hp to the wheel...not very impressive...my overall pick for a celica is what i have now...my alltrac...i took out a 5.0 mustang off the line and through out the whole race...thats a fast celica...think about it......

i agree... i like the body styling on the new celica but with no awd or at least rwd option and the engine being hard to turbo im disapointed... i would rather get an older celica or an mr2

Re: Celica GTS, worth it?

ya, mr2's are awesome, but the MRS is ugly...it looks like a square porsche...over all, i would rather have a GT-4, then my 2000 GT-s. Even though it is hard to turbo, and it is fwd, i think it is the best to drive. Even though you only get like 140 to the wheels stock, the lift option is the coolest driving option i have ever felt.

Re: Celica GTS, worth it?

i love the 7th gen celicas. i think they look great, get good fuel mileage, are relatively quick, reliable, and are easy to tune. if i had the cash it is prolly the first car i would go to. the trd package is also something to consider when shopping for a celica.

i dont like the trd package, it is better to get another body kit and put it on yourself

Re: Celica GTS, worth it?

i've driven a car with a turbo, and the evo VIII didnt impress me much, plus vtec doesnt compare to lift...try it out, it feels a lot stronger...but i just like it, because it is only there when you want to use it, not always
