Re: Best performance for the $

go with K&N for the intake, they dino more then the v2. also the v2 application only makes around 10 - 15 additional hp while a k&n system can makeup to 25. it also cost ALOT LESS

Afrokid,

Seriously how can you believe that? There is no way that an filter can add 25HP. Thats just stupid talk.

EclipseRST,

Thanks for replying, wow I didn't realize though that those components can add up that much (ie cost).

What upgrades would you recommend in order would you say after the ones I listed?

I was thinking the next thing to do would be getting a short shifter, pulley (wonder if this really works, about 8lb difference I believe...) and some cam gears. Other than that I can't think of anything pretty simple not too expensive to upgrade at the moment.

yea i would definatly do a CAI of some sort, it really doesnt matter what kind, underdrive pullies do add some power but not much - ok when adding performance upgrades you cant expect much from one upgrade like the underdrive pullies...exspecially when modding a 420a, you will need to add a few upgrades before you will actually feel a difference in your cars power, i would suggest getting a new coil pack (the block that your plug wires go into on top of the valve cover - just incase you didnt know what it was) get some new wires and plugs... all that should be about a $100-125 dollars, get the underdrive pullies - somewhere around $150 where how much mine were... an aluminum flywheel would help add power - you can find one for about $200... for the CAI, depending on if you make your own or buy a name brand one - from about $30 for home made to $180-200 for name brand. now with all that you can be pretty close to seeing about 30hp gain... now it doesnt see much for the price but if you want an easier way for a little more, make the home made CAI, about $30 and you could get a walbro 190lph fuel pump for about $75 and get the stock 450cc injectors from a 4g63 for around $50-75, that will upgrade your fuel system enough to get a nitrous kit, i would suggest a 50-75 shot zex wet kit... brand new for about $450-500 off ebay - thats where i got most of the prices from! and with the upgraded fuel system and the nitrous you could see up to 75hp, now thats double the hp for a little more money if not the same price...now if you do all of the above for a little over a grand, you could be seeing about 100hp added to your car, now remember (and this is for all of you that are goin to say yea right 100hp - BULLSHIT!) thats at the crank, so you will probably see about 65-70whp!

now if you would have gotten a GST or GSX, for a little over a grand you could running low 13s! remember that!!!

Re: Best performance for the $

With the 420 motor in the Eclipse. I suggest first doing your exhaust work. Then some Fuel Work like this
Catback Exhaust, High Flow Cat, Header, Intake Manifold, Intake, Throttle Body, Fuel Rail, Fuel Regulator, Fuel Pump, Injectors. With this stuff you will be decently quick. Another thing that will help you out alot is the Venmon 400 Chip. Also with the above stuff get spark plugs and wires. This is just what I think I am not an expert.
