now as for the aftermarket cam, what would u suggest? and would you suggest going to hydrolic roller rockers?

if you have a 5.0 you have hydrolic lifters and cam etc, The E303 is probally the best cam to have for decently cheep, and with an auto its good, ,otherwise your power band is way higher than you rev up to, unless you get a fully manual valve body for your transmition, but thats not cheep.

see, these things are called automatic transmitons because they shift for you
Now, unlike some cars, you dont have the option to go 1st, 2nd, 3rd, D...on t-birds up to 96 I believe you have 1st D OD. Ford racing cams above the E303 are good for power bands muchhigher than 4,300 Even the E303 is higher than you can reach without reprograming the PCM. Now, with your TH400, its NOT computer controlled, you can get kits to change what RPM it shifts at AND how hard it shifts, ie how much fluid it lets flow so not how hard but how fast it shifts. Now, any other questions smartass?

Yeah, you're not computer controlled. Assface. And, the cam just makes the motor turn a overall higher RPM. Which brings the power band up higher. The transmission just shifts its marry little butt. But yes, a shift kit would be a nice addition so it shifts faster, and that it shifts higher into the power band. Thus, the transmission has very little to do with him installing a E303 cam. It wouldnt hinder him any. if you have a 5.0 you have hydrolic lifters and cam etc, The E303 is probally the best cam to have for decently cheep, and with an auto its good, ,otherwise your power band is way higher than you rev up to, unless you get a fully manual valve body for your transmition, but thats not cheep. That makes no sense, lets look at this line in particular: "with an auto its good, ,otherwise your power band is way higher than you rev up to" Um, Your powerband is way higher than what you rev to... uhh I think the cams job is to get him to rev that high. What else is its job? Sound good?

OK
terminal do you have any clue what you are talking about? A Auto tranny can be reved up just as high as anything else. BTW do you know what a true Manual Valve body is? do you think you have it on your car? You dont. A true manual valve body is similar to that of a trans brake in fact they use them in racing series that prohibit the use of trans brakes. I know you have a shift kit, but perhaps i will set you up with links so you can see what you are talking about before you go off acting like you know what you are saying.
Now maybe i could be wrong, maybe i just dont understand what you are saying simply because i have no clue how you are relating a CAM to a Transmission. Ive seen many posts from the past and it makes me wonder where you get your facts from. Now i dont know about your car but while in drive with your "maunal valve body" does it hold first and second gear while still in drive? Because that is what a manual valve body will do. here take a look at this link. http://www.jdsperformance.com/index....tem&inmake=all And i nevr recalled the stock tranny in your car coming with one of these from ford. "Born and raised california racer." HA HA HA thats a good one terminal Pucker up cause TheJimmay has come into your world.

1 yes I know what it is and I dont have one
Its why I was thinking of buying one, and yes, the only ones ive seen have trans brakes, and a switch to activate OD BECAUSE MY TRANNY IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED!, its not as advanced as more modern trannys, but it is still controlled by the EEC Now, I left off a few words Any cam higher than the E303 has the power in rpms higher than you can reach in drive, unless you change it weather you have a fully manual valvebody like I said, or if you put a t-5 in there, or reflash the PCM See Jimmy, when the engine needs to rev to 5.5 to take advantage of the B303 cam, *not E303, I'm talking about the higher cam* and your stock transmition shifts you at 4.3 (rpm incase you couldnt figure it out) Now, I have not seen any kits to change what rpm you shift at for the AOD tranny of these years, *pre 93, after 86 I believe* So if it isnt comp controlled, your fucked, plain and simple.

Well see thats all you had to do in the first place, give us a clear explination.
I still say though, the tranny has little to do with the motor reving. It does however affect where it shifts at. But even if the motor is shifted prematurely it will still build up back into its power band, the tranny wouldnt hinder it there... the car would still benifit from its top end pull. Now, we might of gotten our wires crossed... so lets cool down.. eat some jelly beans and rethink our positions.

well, the tranny dosent affect HOW the engine revs up, ,but it shifts before the engine can reach a certain rpm, ,thats what I'm trying to say
On the t-bird you got 1st drive overdrive, so your shit out of luck if youhave a cam in which its powerband is over 5 grand, because youll only reach it in 1st.
