I just bought an '03 Denali with the stock navigation unit... Do any of you guys know if the radio has a video input on the back of it? I want to add a back-up camera and integrate it into the stock screen. The install shop I went to said they weren't sure if there was a video input on the back pf the unit and if there wasn't they would have to send the unit out (for about 2 weeks) to intergrate the back-up camera to it. I would rather not do this since it will probably void the warranty. Thanks...

The radio does NOT have an aux video input on it. You can have it done here >>http://www.avelectronic.com/products.htm OR http://www.nav-tv.com/ . You have to send them your radio and they open it up and install the video in. At this point your warranty is GONE on the Navigation radio and you have to buy their video processing unit. Their unit takes the input from your DVD player, rear camera, TV tuner, etc and displays it on the screen of the navigation unit. It is very very trick but also very expensive. You will end up spending over $1000.00 for everything you need with labor but I hear the picture looks great. Also, this mod WILL void the warranty on the nav radio and remember GM is getting almost three grand for the stupid unit.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

Ok guys, contacted gmpartsdirect about the part # for the GPS antenna and after several illustrations they sent me, the final one was the right one and I sent an email back to them indicating which part on the diagram was what I need. They sent me the part # and I verified it with a dealership. It is the part that I need.

The part # is: 15207447

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

$45.25. GM list price is $90.50. That's how much you would pay at the dealer. I've ordered the part. Total price is $54.30 (due to shipping). Not bad.

By the way, the seller on ebay who sold the Navigation unit to copout221 finally sent back an email. In my email, I asked him what the part # was and he replied that he has the GPS antenna and would sell it for $150. I sent an email back to him saying that's an outrageous price. I also said that's rediculous and a ripoff. Have not received a response.

Yea, he was a bit strange. It was weird that he had over six of these radios for sale. I wonder where he got them ?? They are not that easy to come across !!! $150.00 for the antenna is a rip especially if you can get one from GM for $90.00.

How does the Navigation work in your vehicle? Does it operate like it should? Tracks as you drive and gives accurate results?

I like it but it has it's limitations on maps and the updated DVD map discs are way way overpriced IMO. Otherwise, I like the unit better than the last Lexus system I used in my GS400. The one I installed has been working great. I did have one incident after filling up with gas last week that the entire radio turned off while driving and reset itself for some unknown reason. Freeekn dealer could not provide me with an answer and said to bring the truck in if it did it again. It has been working fine since that day. I also noticed that there is weird background noise when the nav voice comes on or the onstar is activated. Sounds like engine noise !!!

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

I noticed that there is background noise when the second the screen comes on. If I turn the screen off (feature in the config), then the noise goes away. Also, the screen is acting funny. The color is now somewhat gold. Look at one of my pics and compare it to the others, that is the problem I am having. Sometimes, it is normal. Others, it just changes suddenly to a slight gold. I wasn't expecting this from such a nice unit.

I do wish it had the volume bar like my old head unit had.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

Also, mine is practacally new. The Rendevous it came out of only had about 4000 miles. More or less. And it was an '04. So I have the latest DVD.

Hmmm, that is strange. I have not had any issues with the color of the screen but I can tell you that there are ton of bugs and issues with these radios from what I was told by a local A C Delco distributor that fixes all the radios in GM vehicles for my dealership. They are not yet authorized to touch these Nav radios because of how new they are and have been told they are "Full of Bugs." They told me that the radios are basically put together in pieces that just get replaced when they go bad.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

Yeah, it was working fine for alittle over a month and then problems started to occur. One problem I forgot to mention is that all buttons except for the config button lock up sometimes. Meaning, they don't function when I hit them. I have to hit config. Then all the buttons start to function again. Very weird. I'm going to have to send the unit in. Which is unfortunate. I figured it had bugs. My step mom's '03 Navigator with CD based Navigation system has some bugs too. The screen would distort several seconds after power on and then go blank. This occurs once in a while. The screen resets with the start up screen showing up.

copout221-
Thanks for the info and the links... The systems in the links look great, but after reading the newer posts about how the unit functions, I definatly don't think I want to void my warranty! Unfortunatly, I havn't used the navigation yet because the dealer didn't have the cd when I picked up the truck. Said they had to order it and would have it by the time my plates came in. Thanks again...

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

It's here at last!!! It came in yesterday and I plugged it in and was quite disappointed when I saw it wasn't tracking my car real time. It would refresh every 1 min or so. I put in a destination and it still would refresh every one minute, more or less. Until I got onto the highway. When I looked down at the unit, it was tracking my car like it should. Then I heard the bell notification then the woman's voice said to get off at exit 22. And then it guided me to my destination. It works!!!
A nice feature is it shows you what street you are on, what building you are passing, what exit is coming up next if your on the highway, etc. I was in a local college area and it showed on the display that the building I was next to was the Main Administration Building. Pretty cool.
