personaly im building my own box. my design will make it neer impossible to steel. the base is two layers of board in the middle sits a 16 guage steel plate that i ran my bolts through arc welded the bases and then cut the heads off of. the face where the sub itself mounts to is also a nice piece of enginering. ive got my coupel plate where the sub sits into thats made from a single plate of aluminm thats screwed into the box face with a 1/16" neoprine spacer to isolate vibrations then the sub bots into that and theres a grill piece that goes over that which has 4 nubs on the back to make sure placing is just right and then im going to spot arch that in the verry corners.

Ah yes, making a box is a pain. Yours sounds interesting. I took 3/4" MDF board, coated in polyurethane(sp) and then I put a goop substance that holds wood together on it to hold it together, put insolation in the inside to get a louder harder boom, I spraypainted it in that mirage stuff, but went back and painted it black.

you can realy add alot of safty features for you box if you build it yourself. however it can get expensive if you want alot of metal work and dont know how to do it yourself
