Re: Welcome Ford muscle car fans!

Yes, a 390 from a t-bird should work just fine. A 390 is a very nice engine, (it's what I have in my 68 gal' convertible, and it's a real work horse), but if you're wanting a really fast engine, you may want to look into a big bore, short stroke engine, like the 427,428, or 429 cobrajets. You will pay quite a premium for these engines however, as they are very sought after. (Mainly used in the various Shelby Cobras)

The '67 Tbird chassis is actually a shortenened Galaxie chassis, so the mounts are likely different. The 390 came as an option in the Fairlane so get a set of mounts for that application.
Likely the Tbird mounts are old and pooched anyways so its reasonable to get a new set anyways.

Any standard pattern Holley will work on a factory 4V 390 intake.
A 0-80145 600cfm looks nice and works well.

The Fairlane requires different frame brackets/mounts. Crites Restoration is a good source.

I've recently acquired a 1963 Galaxie 500 Boxtop (the kind with no post between the windows, stopped production in January '63) and I love it to death. It's got a 390 with a 4bbl pushin estimated 320/400 hp/ft.lb.torque, going through the stock C6 auto trans. This is my first car (I'm about to turn 17), and my father and I are restoring it as I drive it. I've taken a stopwatch to my various runs and came up with 0-60 in the low to mid 7's, and a quarter mile in the mid 15's... that's with about 300 pounds of junk in the trunk (literally). She's got a few minor body problems, and the deckpans all need to be replaced... and her paint is definately in need of replacement... but overall it's not bad for 2500 bucks . I'm gonna end up throwing on essentially the entire edelbrock performance package on there as soon as I get the money... anybody care to estimate what kind of numbers I'll be getting on the dyno and track?

*EDIT*: I'll be posting some pictures shortly (as soon as I can get my digital camera to stop being temperamental), and I'll keep you guys updated on the restoration progress throughout the model... it should skyrocket about mid-june, and continue at an insane rate throughout the summer... cause that's when I get a job.

Don't bother with the Performer intake. Go with the Performer RPM. If you want more power, and don't need a grandma idle, go with a cam like the Comp Cams 33-208-3 which is their 275DEH series cam. Rated for power between 2000 and 6000 RPM.
If you stick with the whole Performer package like you originally intended, you should be able to run 14's. If you step up the cam and intake, you should be able to easily run in the 13's.
I am assuming that you will be running a 3.50 or so gear.
