The Chevy 427 is rock solid. I’m going with that one.

I could have sworn the ford was a 428. Same engine used in the Shelby GT500's and the late 60's early 70's police cars effectionately nicked the police intercepter.

Good choices and to only add a few just for giggles.

Mopar
340, 360, 383

Chevy
305, 402 (special run in 69 for the Chevelle), 489 (caddy)

Ford
289 (64 1/2 to 66 mustangs)

I took the LS6 454. Same motor in the 70 Chevelle SS.

Ford made a 427, 428, and a 429. How's that?
The 427 and 428 are kinda related, they are both FE blocks. The 429 is COMPLETELY different.
The 427 is MUCH more powerful than the 428. The 428 made 360 HP, the 427 made 425 HP. But the 427 and 428 have different bores and strokes. There are also many different 427's. -- 427 low riser, 427 medium riser, 427 high riser, 427 tunnel port, and the 427 SOHC.
Oh and one other thing, the 427 SOHC made 615 HP, it's probably the most powerful engine on that list. It was made to combat Chrysler's HEMI in stock car racing.
I got more info if your not tired of reading yet. LOL
