Pick, methinks you kind of missed Naki's point. He simply stated it was alive and well in the SOUTH. That did not discount the NORTH, EAST or WEST. Simply that he had some solid evidence linking racism with the SOUTH.

As far as I'm concerned I say Georgia can be dropped off the United States. I just saw on The Factor a few "white" parents interviewed saying they don't see a problem with it....the problem with them is they're fucking rednecks!!!

Not flaming: Would you rather him say it happens everywhere. While racism occurs in the majority of the places around the world, it certainly doesn't not occur in 100% of everywhere. On the same note, do we really have to put a disclaimer on everything we post so we don't offend someone else?

Chances are that if you find one,it will also be in one of the states that was founded on slavery.

The blacks were punished less than the whites for violence and many other insubordinations in my old highschool. The school feared that they'd play the racism card and get them in trouble. This might not be to the same degree as a segregated prom, but the school is the one doing it.

By the way, the southern school doesn't tolerate it.

You might call it a freak event where you live, but I know many many people that would like to see this happen in my community... some of which are my friends. I let them know my opinion, how I don't like to hear that shit around me, and they respect it.

A proposed solution to this problem: let it die out on it's own. Look at the progress that the US has made since the 60s. I'd say we've come pretty far. You just can't slam your beliefs down someone elses throat. If psychology has proven anything, it's that people don't like to be told what to do, and will often rebel if that happens at some point or another. It's human nature to be a bigot, it's how we learn from our mistakes. We tend to stay away from bad experiences. While racism is an extreme example of this, some people have had bad experiences with one or multiple people of a different race, and this has stuck. They in turn, pass it on to their kids, until their kids realize in some way that people of other races aren't the bad people their parents made them out to be.

On the other side, I do see many many different races living up to their stereotypes, and it really doesn't suprise me that some shallow-minded people are racist.

To make this personal, I judge everyone on a case by case basis regardless of color. If they don't live up to my standards of a socially acceptable acquaintance/friend, I dismiss them as people of which their opinion doesn't matter to me.

Yea I guess you're right. But the way i see it, calling someone a redneck is just humorous not racist. But if you try and seperate an entire race from enjoying a night at prom now thats being racist. Most people ive met who consider themselves rednecks are proud to be one, and all of the ones ive met are racist which is why i stay as far away from those ignorant people as i can.

The entire USA and maybe the whole continent was founded on slavery , just some states decided to give it up faster than others. Racism sucks but it is everywhere.Religious prejudice sucks even worse and is even more abundant.
