98 240sx?

Hi, newbie here. I was just wondering who owns a 97-98 240sx, and how
reliable it is (KA engine). I'm thinking about buying one because I'm
sick of my front-wheel drive Honda.

i bought my 98 240sx SE (AUTO) 4 weeks ago with 57,000 miles..and i just hit my 60,000 mile mark today right after i hit 112 on the freeway.I bought a turbo charger for it..but i havent had time to install it. so far my KA24de is reliable..dosent get very good city miles..i recently added injen intake and apexi dual N1 cat-back Exhaust. Im in question about the transmission though, i push it hard because im trying to learn my cars limits so i can take it into D1 in the future. But so far the month that i have owned my car...its been pretty good to me. Im planning on doing a manual tranny converstion if i dont sell the complete ka24de(t) to make room for a SR20DET black top..or possibly a Cosmo 20B-REW if i really wana be different. As of now, im just trying to learn more about its structure and how well it will perform on the course. Since i live in seattle and it rains here alot, i wana be able to control the car in serious conditions.

240SXs are cool. Hey did you see the new Acura DN-X? That thing looks pretty tight, VTEC to the max... Wow, those preludes have vtec engines in them dont they? Preludes are faster than 240SXs... Why not get one of those?

cause i have finally come to the conclusion that civic/hondas suck for power, and plus i wanna be different and 240 are really hard to find.

Anyone know if 240's are considered sportscars insurance wise? If they are then there is no chance i'll ever own one while in the same house as my parents. My dad bought an 89' corvette (i had NOTHING to do with him buying that) and our insurance company said they'd drop us if he didn't get rid of it (because there are 2 teens in the house who are driving/driving soon and my mom has had a couple incidents in the past such as backing out of the garage with a door open on our old A6 2.7T ). Anyway, I just didn't know if the same thing would happen if i were to get a 240 in the future. Keep in mind i'd be under my parents plan.

news flash. buying a 240 isn't being different in this day and age. if you're just buying one to be a part of the current trend, then at least learn something about it before buying it.

me, i've wanted one for 5 years now. even though they're not too different in this day and age, i know everything there is to know about them, and that's why i still want one. i don't care how many people are jumping on the bandwagon, i'm a hardcore through and through enthusiast. if all you want is unique-ness, then i suggest looking elsewhere. but if you love the 240SX for that it is and what it can be, then by all means, good luck on your search.

what the hell are you talking about

first you say you bought a turbo for it and didnt put it in yet

then you said you just put in an injen (why the hell you do that???)

then you say you may do an engine swap...

i bet you dont even have one. POSER :apuke:

The thing is im tired of my fucking civic they way it looks and the performance on it? No matter what you do to it people look at it for a bit and on to the next civic, thats where i think the 240sx are different, not only do they have great potential for real power(sr swaps and rb's) but they look great too. I dont think i have to know everything about the car to get it either, another good thing is the year that im looking at getting is rare if you look at autotrader youll see its very difficult to aquire one.
