i just hope the r134 is still on sale at walmart ... imma go buy some and hopefully I can put in the new compressor myself when it gets here

I agreed don't dump that stuff into the atmosphere.
I'm not 100% sure but most A/C shops will discharge your r12 system for a fee and give you a credit for the r12 they recover (because they recycle it) towards A/C repairs done by that shop. Check it out, it's worth a call. And Melt, r134a will not damage the ozone layer like r12 does. (I think I have my facts straight.)
