the Chirac Conspiracy theory doesn't come in a supported version. It's a bit like the WMD theory, convenient leverage until proven to be true.

it interupts normal programming they keep coming up with "specials" oooo and all they have to say is exactly the same as yesterday

the only reason the arabs don't trust the US is because they support Israel :o
If Israel is the main reason for instability shouldn't we tell them CALM DOWN ?

Plus we supplied them advanced weapons so there's not much chance of any surrounding neighbours defeating them in a war

Beyond the fact that only about 11% of US consumed oil is from the Middle-East, what country could function as it does today without oil? Of course we are a huge user, we're a huge country with a huge industrial base and a huge standard of living. It's hard to be the world's largest producer without being the world's largest consumer...

The U.S. uses more oil per head of population than most other industrialised nations.Your argument that 'no country could function as it does today without oil' is a fairly obvious statement,to which my reply is'the U.S. functions as it does today because it is still caught up in the myth that there is a cheap and infinite supply of oil.'

The fact that a full 11%[by your figures] of your oil is shipped halfway around the world should set alarm bells ringing.Your country is becoming dependant on peace and stability in all of the worlds' oil selling nations.Wars mean uncertainty of supply, uncertainty commands a premium price, not just for imported supplies, but for locally produced oil too.Let's face it,if the spot price for oil jumps from $15 to $25 ber barrel overnight, nobody is going to want to continue supplying it at the old price.
