And yes, we do get screwed out of a lot of fun cars. On the up side, the Evolution 8's are in driveways across half the states. No AYC/ACD, but they seem to be pretty damn impressive regardless. It'll be a cryin' shame for them when my FWD Lancer takes stock Evo's in a straight line though. (Though I doubt many Evos will remain stock) By that time though I'll hopefully have a slightly better cash flow and my car will already be mostly built.EDIT: Oh yeah, the Australian version of our Lancer is the VR-X but it only comes with the Invecs II tranny. It's overwhelmingly similar to our Lancers (to use the NHTSA phrase). The Japanese versions are significantly different in everything but chassis. I don't think they even have the same suspension setups. We don't have GDI engines in the states apparently due to the sulphur content of our fuel and because I don't think that Mitsubishi wants to warranty it under the crappy conditions US car owners keep their cars under. I only know about the AU models cuz we have so many Australian memebrs on my other forum. I dunno anyone from NZ (personally) so I dunno the differences cept that you guys get way more fun cars.

The VR-X is a performance version of the Australian assembled Daimante, (Magan, V3000 in other Markets) which is a much bigger car than the Lancer. here: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.nz/d...formance.html# Its possible theres a VR-X version of the Lancer, but Im sure that since most of the NZ Mitsi range is sourced from Australia we also share the same model line up. Of note, the AWD Daimante that has just been released is a NZ/Ausie only model. There is an AWD model sold in Japan, however the driveline proved to be to weak for Australian condidtion, so Mitsi Aus took the Japanese body shell and added the EVO VIII gear box and diffs, then mated it to the Australian 3.5L V6 engine. Its sort of a bigger more comfterble EVO.

I've actually got a 2001 "Limited Edition", pretty much the same as a VR-X tho.... They were only made in november 2001. Pretty nice car indeed, tho i still have it stock for now.... JayMan |

Ahh Nice! This is one major disadvantge of having lots of Used Japa's in the country, we miss out a lot of nice new cars. The VR-X lancer would never sell here, not when you could buy a used low millage EVO 5 for the same money. We get a very limited line up of small cars from all the Major manufators in this part of the world, its only the large car ranges that give the buyer a lot of choice. Quite simply if you want a larger car you buy something new, that most likely assembled in Ausi, and if you want something small then you buy a Japanese import. Unless you can afford the luxury of having a new car, and prefer it over having lots of added extras.
