I say don't do it, painting it black would look gay I think. If you're going for that whole look and since they don't make CF hoods for the 4th gen sedans then I would go get some of that CF decal stuff and cover the hood with that. I think that would look a lot better than black.

Okay, guess that answers my question of how much does a paint job cost. 2 G's. How can you tell if you're going to get a quality job? Is there a specific method to doing it right, or a certain kind or brand of paint? I'd like to get something that won't chip and will last 5 years or more. Is there anything you can do to make it cheaper, like prep work or something? Does it matter if the whole car is in one piece or not?

No matter how good of a painter you are if you scimp on the prep the paint job will look like a$$. I prefer PPG, U-TECH & Lesonal paint for base, and Southern Polyurethanes Clear coat reduced just a small amount to make it lay flat ( reduce texture). Where do you live? If close I can hook you up for less than 2g's I am sure!

PPG and Dupont are very good paints, if you want nice candy paint or really bright custom colors use House of Kolor . The only real way to tell if you getting a good paint job is to see the work they do and I don't mean to look at a fresh paint job. Anyone who knows how to paint can make a paint job look nice but the prep work before then makes it last. I've been custom painting cars for 12 years now and I can tell you one thing good paint jobs arn't cheap, 1,500 to 2,000 for a color change is the norm for a reputable shop. Any less than that and they have to be cutting corners or they don't like getting paid for there time or the works gonna really suck one of the three. If you stay with the same color a good paint job shouldn't be more than 1,500, anyway good luck :bandit:
