h22a supercharged?
im thinking about getting a 92-96 prelude vtec and I was also thinking about getting the jackson racing supercharger for it? Anyone know anyone or have this done to their car? What power gains did you see? Also, 1/4 times?

sorry to bust your bubble, but there is no jrsc for the 4th gen due to fitment, or lack thereof. the firewall is in the way. jackson racing only makes the kit for the 5th gen. get a turbo.

That sure bursts my bubble... It seems like there is so much room under the hood. Son of a bitch. Dreams are altered. I'll make it fit. What does the OBDII do when you hook up a supercharger? Does the kit come with a new CPU?

and if you got the money for it, you can make anything fit i suppose. haven't heard of anyone doing such a thing before though. if you do attempt it, let us know how it all goes. it'd sure be interesting to see it done. i know a lot of 4th gen owners who would love the JRSC for their car. |

thanks for the info del. what was the type S though, the VTEC model? I knew all 5th gens came with the h22.
do you think, overall, that the supercharger is worth the time and money? especially to put in a 4th gen? or would that 3k be better ivested in something like an all motor application? also, are the intake manifolds for the h22 and the h23 the same size? I wonder if that supercharger would hook up to an h23. There would probably be a difference in belt lengths though. I don't really want to spend 3000 to find out. I wonder if jackson racing or vortech would just give me a blower to try it out. 4th gens are too overlooked.

honestly, you're gonna end up spending more than $3000 to custom fabricate the jrsc into a 4th gen. i don't think it'd be worth it. you can spend that money on a turbo or put towards an all-motor setup and you'd be faster than if you'd put the jrsc on it. i'm content with the supercharger. i know my car can be faster with a turbo but it's fine for me and the way i use my car. i think you're better off just spending the money on a turbo setup.
the type s is a japan-only model. it has the H22A that you find on other preludes but with more aggressive cams and intake manifold giving it 220hp instead of 200. and some cosmetic differences. if you want to spend the money, go for the customized jrsc setup and do a write up on it. everyone with a 4th gen would love to see it done. anything's possible for the right amount of money. i would think a vortech would be easier to do however. but like i said, your money would be better spent on a turbo or all-motor setup IMO. |

there's a guy on SHO that customized a jrsc into his 4th gen. here's what he needed for the install, quoted directly off SHO.
"...Well, the only parts that you need besides the supercharger are the power steering pump, the top power steering hose, and a brake master cyclinder. According to hondaautomotiveparts.com that 413, 108, and 180. So +$700... " just find a guy to do the install for you, and you should be set. the guy hasn't been able to dyno or time his car yet. so figure about $3500ish for the supercharger, another $700 for the extra parts and AT LEAST $700 for a custom install, unless you want to attempt it yourself. i'm gueesin you're probably gonna spend upwards of $5000. that's just to get the supercharger in. it's recommended to put a good i/h/e setup, so that's another grand. worth it? i still don't think so. but there's a little more info for you. the guy's username is DrSeus on superhonda .com. so if you want to get a hold of him. register there and PM him. |

Del, I always look forward to your posts. There's a damn good reason you are a mod.
Anyhow, I decided on saving up for an H22 right now. My engine is 178 thousand miles old and getting a little tired. Forced induction probably wouldn't help. Plus, I'd get the money back if I sold the car with an H22 in it. Sounds good to me. Thanks for all the help del, I still think it's worth it to see a supercharger in a 4G, but then again, I want to swap my H23 into a 1G and convert it to RWD somehow... Just dreams I guess.
