You're not going to like this...it's a challenge. The Helms manual recommends removing the rear seat (completely) then removing both side panels in the rear. With all of that out, now you can remove the rear deck. Whew! I replaced the factory 6X9's and it took me like a day and a half. I checked with a few people to make sure I had to do all of this work just to get the rear deck out, they told me yes. Hope this helps.

Well, I know a very easy way. It is a little dramatic, but worked great. I busted out my back window. I then had ful access to the back cover. I replaced my speakers in about 30 minutes tops. :right:

Oh, insurance paid to have it fixed

(there is more to the story than what can be seen. Please dont try this at home, unless you know what you are doing.)

Did you take out your rear window, or did you break your rear window. either way, I don't really wanna try it. By the way, what did you say to the insurance company?

The back window shattered. At the time, I had a $100 deductable, so the glass company paid the $100 and fixed it for me. They were also the ones who broke the window.

The story goes like this. When I bought my car, it had some shitty tint on the windows. I of course wanted nothing but the best. I took my car in to have all the old tint taken off, and new high quality tint put on. While they were removing the tint of the back window, they scraped some of the defroster wires off. This was in no way acceptable. I need those wires. They called and told me this, and I was pissed. They said the only way tp fix it, would be to replace the window. I told them I didnt have the money to put a new window in. I also told them I felt it was there fault, so they should pay to replace it. He asked if I had insurance. I told him yes. He said they will take care of everything then. About 30 minutes later he called and said the back window had been broken, and the insuraunce is going to replace it. He told me I could either leave the car there until the new window could be put in (3 days later) or pick it up. i thought there is no way in hell I am going to leave it there. I went and picked it up, brought it home, and started thinking. I thought, wow, what a great time to swap the speakers that I have been having trouble figuring out how to remove.

Well well well

I'm not sure about you guys but replacing the speakers the right way isn't that hard. I don't have that much car experience and I took out everything behind the drivers seat including the trunk (without breaking anything) in not more than an hour. Hondas are sooooo easy. That's why we buy them. Do it right and save yourself any hassles.

Get a hatchback and things will be easier.

Its not easy to replace them either. You just have to asses your situation, tools at hand, and information on how to do it. Myself, I just happened to be lucky enough to be missing a window at the same time I wanted to replace some stuff.

Cool SImple Solution

:smoker2: Its actually quite easy. Smoke a J, Get in the back seat of your coupe (not that comfy huh?) Pull up that plastic deck that covers up those wonderful stock 6x9's, Get a big screwdriver out of your toolbox and wedge it under your rear deck so that the plastic deck is supported. Use a 90 degree angle drive out of your handy-dandy toolbox to loosen the screws (close quarters huh?) take that crappy speaker out and put new ones in. Yes I do realize that this method isn't very fun but neither is taking apart your entire car.
take it easy-
