Out of curiosity I looked at mine and there is no rust there. Maybe this happened to you due to frequent use of that lift point? I usually use asphalt padding at the contact point to prevent the top of the jack shaft from denting the steel.

I’ve been watching our 98 windstar’s left front jack point deteriorating in much the same way. . Great to find this thread from a few years back, and this forum.
Any word on how the repair has held up? Thanks. |

i'm startled to see that amount of corrosion piper. i'm in STL and none (98, 00 & 02) ever got near that condition.
