Re: 2012 cruz fuel economy
How exciting to be in the process of finding a new car!
In short, the EPA fuel economy estimates for the different engines of the Cruze are as follows: 1.4L Auto and Manual: 26/38 1.8L Auto: 22/35 1.8L Manual: 25/36 1.4L Auto Cruze Eco: 26/39 1.4L Manual Cruze Eco: 28/42 The EPA's fuel economy estimates are designed to allow consumers to comparison shop; however, your fuel economy will almost certainly vary from EPA's fuel economy rating. This is based on a number of factors, such as weather, road conditions, driving and maintenance habits, and the use of air conditioning. Your MPG Will Still Vary and Gas Mileage Tips on www.fueleconomy.gov may be helpful resources for you as you continue researching. Good luck on your car hunt, and if I can answer any further questions about the Cruze or other GM products I'm happy to help. Best, Sarah GM Customer Service |

Re: 2012 cruz fuel economy
I own a 2012 LTZ and I get an average of 29 MPG which I'm very happy with. I live in the city and have a pretty even mix of city/highway driiving.

Re: 2012 cruz fuel economy
Cruze in the US will not be available with the diesel engine until model year 2014, at which time it is scheduled for a mid-cycle refresh (new front end, similar to the upcoming Impala), among other changes.
Other enthusiast sites have commented that GM is sourcing the diesel engine components from manufacturers with a less-than-stellar reliability record, so I say avoid it. |

Re: 2012 cruz fuel economy
I rented a Cruze for a week and it averaged 34 MPG with combined driving. It seemed to have enough power to get out of its own way, road conditions were marginal, it had over 17K on the clock so it should have been broken in, and I was impressed that the little go-kart actually did pretty well. Of course, there was no space, but there isn't in any small car.

Re: 2012 cruz fuel economy
I know this is old, but my 2011 Cruze with the 1.4 turbo struggles to get 30MPG even on the hgwy. It has been in the shop more than my 2005 Malibu. Car is mainly driven by my fiancée and her old cavalier got better gas mileage. now with 82K miles it has a turbo under boost code.
