What have you done with the Mclaren F1 Driving Ambition original POSTER?

Hello everyone. Here in Colombia i have my Mclaren F1 collection and Memorabilia in 2 different cities. In one city, i decided to frame my Original Mclaren F1 Poster that came with the Book.
Pics bellow.
What have you done?
Best regards from South America.
Jose.

Jose,

That is a really cool idea , love the way it is reversible, its made me rethink how I,m going to frame my large collection of prints/posters. One lot of frames, two lots of pics, quick change of views, nice idea when wall space is in short supply. Thankyou.

That looks great Jose - I've never seen a large format frame that was reversible like that.

To answer your question - I've used my original copy as a handy source of information for more than a decade, and boy does it show.

Before I get crucified, I have a few other copies that are still nice and new. My problem with framing one up is that I don't love the photo McLaren chose for the reverse shot and even a brand new copy has those annoying creases from being folded.

I think if I were going to have a photo of chassis #075 framed I'd take either one of these hi-res shots (prob the second one) clean it up a bit and have it printed at 72 dpi giving you a finished photo size of 41" x 32" (or 104 cm x 81 cm). I might even crop the second one so you lose the opening of the hangar at the top - it would still print at 24" tall (or 61 cm) with that edit.

= = =

BTW: For those who may have missed out on my earlier post - here is the other thing I did with the Chassis History section of the poster:

Hi! yeah, in fact i had to think like a couple of days what could be best for the poster if it had 2 active faces! i did not know what face use, and then the idea came from one moment to another, and talked to the frame people, it was custom made for me, it has 2 cristal glass, so it is very heavy, that's why you see in the rear picture the 2 stands for the nails. But it was worth it, it looks amazing and unique, and when i want to show to visitors the Mclaren F1 history, i just turn it back and enjoy.

Hope you have the chance to do the same.
Good luck with all the other posters u have.
Jose.

Hey Peloton, thank you for your post. Knowing you ( your posts ) i can clearly see that you are the biggest fan of mclaren F1 in the World! and i can understand that you have given a GOOD and PROPER use for the original Poster ! I never opened mine but only after 5 years, because this Forum is enough to keep well updated about Mclaren f1.

In fact, i do not like either the Mc. picture they chose for this poster. In fact that's why i had to think a couple of times which side would be better to expose on the frame. Then the idea came up with glass on both sides. The folding marks, i convinced the frame people to help me to get rid of them the most they could. And i think they tried. howhever, those marks still remain and will never go away no matter how smashed the picture will be betwen the 2 crystal glasses.

Thank you very much for sharing your pics of the original poster, and also the pics for 075 Chassis in other angles. I could try to make a second poster with one of those pics... Someday!

Regards from Colombia, in South America.
Joe.

Hi Jose,

I intend to use alloy extrusion for the frames and anti glare acrylic for the pane,s. As I wish to flush mount the frames to the wall and for the frame to be identical on both sides. I need to disguise the wall mounting pins, but I think I have worked out a solution. I will post some pics when finished.

Once again, brilliant idea Jose, well done.

Not sure who would ban you?

A link to that digital copy of the book was first shared here several years ago. I forget who we have to thank for the effort though. Sure helps when I'm on the go with my laptop and need to make reference from the book.

HAha too true. I found this out minutes after posting. i had been looking for it online for weeks! it's a shame I don't come here more often.

Finally I thought to search for "Driving Passion pdf" without adding the McLaren bit and found it on someone's googledocs.
