Re: How about a Le mans Group Build?

Here's a new idea, community LeMans build, have Icon send us all one kit each to build, anyone of those will do for me, I'm not picky!

Everyone has there guilty little pleasure!!!!

Seriously though, it is a research kit. I have always wanted to build a tank in 1/12th scale. Something to give my 1/12th cars a since of proportion.

Yea, no kidding!!!! And to think that pictures is about 6 years old and the collection has about doubled since then and it is only the 1/24th kits and not the 1/20th or 1/12 or 1/8th kits.............

.................. you think I might have a problem???????????

Re: How about a Le mans Group Build?

already started! i started with the interior of the tamiya 911 gt1. the dash insert is my first attempt. as it doesnt fit very well, i might redo it. the speedo should be recessed more i think. the steering column plate i scratched after seeing pics from a 996. i hope i got the shape right! the odd looking pieces of small styrene are supposed to be the switch on the lower part of the dash. since i was in a hurry to post, i didnt reshoot the pic again. i also started with the face plate of the what i assume is a radio?!

if anybody would like to contribute reference pictures of this car, please do so. i would be very thankful! comments are welcome!

Re: How about a Le mans Group Build?

ahah, great guys. Love this kinda response
Icon modeller...OMG... that is a REAL collection impressive really. Now I wonder how many kilos of 956/962 decals u should have apart ....and of course u are thinking there is ALWAYS some missing ..

24 hours yes, with suck nickname u cant be away from this idea.
Btw, open a wip of the gt1, surely many guys can help u. which version are u gonna going to build? we made a big debacle about this gt, ending in my personal delirium and "fetish" love for the hardest one to make of course. the 98 "flying away" version....

There will be no deadline then, just a starting line of the thread scheduled maybe for the 14.00 pm of the next sunday , in the same time of the live start of the real race.
I suggest all to have a look at this incredible resource for le mans car to take ispiration
http://www.racingsportscars.com/trac...Le%20Mans.html

as u all probably already know, it is a website full of pictures of all the cars raacing at le mans (and other races worldwide) and its an incredibly interesting database for rare pics and infos.
Unfortunately there is not (according to what I know) similar sources for LM classic.I mean the classic race, not the parade. Otherwise also my street bmw m3 can be part of the show..and I think really not of course

For sure this new GB will create some double image post with the 911 carrera one, just cause as we said before the 911 was and always will be a too important contender for this race, so think it is absolutely wellcome, and nobody can be bored to see 2 times the image of a nice model. Together we can choose simply a different one, and I am sure u have plenty of it.

remember the gb thread should be mostly about pics and link to personal gallery/wip, and I am not a moderator, so I cannot clean eventually posts placed into this image post only.
To avoid mess then, just plz pm me when it will start to update the main gallery little by little, witht the link at your gallery7wip and the SINGLE image u prefer to be posted. It probably takes time, and very very soon I am leaving for sweden, but i am sure with a little patience we can make an incredibly nice gallery as me and Great Phil are doing for the 911.

I have only one request:
I am italian and my english is in the condition u can read.I learn it completely alone, not at school, where I study a basic German, after years of different working experience and travelling around the world.

I just need some volounteer mothertongue checking my text in english before we start the thread.Being the forum english language based I would like it to be gramatically correct.

Thnx all.

Re: How about a Le mans Group Build?

and of course some ispiration video if there is any needing.
1983...porsche 956. Impressive how 934 rsr are slow as stones on the road compared to this rocket.Incredible think about the speed involved on those long straights (wasnt the 956 another one nearly reaching the 400 kmts/h on the straights?)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCQXGb_k5VQ

we can keep anyway this post I started now as the discussion poin for the GB, cause I would have ONLY pictures in the real GB gallery. what do u think?

Re: How about a Le mans Group Build?

If there's no deadline, how is this GB different from regular WIP + Le Mans meet thread?

yes, I didnt note there is already a whatever group build about a le mans meet.Unfortunately is real old and quite messy, with a lot of deadlinks. it is exactly what I will NOT do.
As Phil told me in PM, the risk is to make it become another messy too, also cause we should divide the main gallery with finished models only from the discussion thread (can be alredy this one) with comments and so on.

Maybe better give up the idea and go on make my models..

Here is an idea, have each person who enters make a first post, showing the unbuilt kit, and let them say a self imposed deadline
Then you say that the thread will be locked by (insert date here) for example, New years?
Let each person work to their own speed, and a predetermined time frame for the thread to become locked!
