Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Graphic created by 12Twentyfour/Raees

Dada man (Raees) from Cape Town, South Africa and I, Andy from Atlanta, Georgia are teaming up from worlds away and joining the forces of good and evil through a tandem build of the Ferrari 458 Italia.

We are both doing the Revell 458 and have been teaming up on this behind the scenes for a few weeks now, have done a lot of thinking, collected a lot of parts and ideas, and are ready to bring this to you guys!

We hope to not disappoint and have a ton of fun with this.
Thank you all and here we go!!!!
Andy

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

I am starting my build with:
- Revell Germany Ferrari 458
- Hobby Design HD02-0156 PE Kit
- Studio 27 Carbon Fiber
- Crazy Modeler DC-0067 decal sheet
- Crazy Modeler EK-0002 PE Sticker emblems
- Tuner Model Manufatory 458 Exhaust Pipes T2m1063
- ACMS001 Ferrari 458 metal stickers

Like the picture above, this build is going to be completely evil. I have titled the car BootScraper after Lamb of God's song. I like the scraper part because this car is going to be low, scraping the ground, but still have that supercar edge.

From a builders side, it is going to black on black on black on black on black..... on black. There will be some raw metal, carbon fiber. All the black proposes a fun challenge because many different shades, patinas, hues, etc. will all have to work together to make it look right. If not done right, this looks like a big black ball of plastic.

While I have toyed around with the idea of painted calipers, I think they are going to be metal. I like the raw dark evil aspect the unfinished metal brings. Emblems will be carbon fiber and silver.

I will start with chopping the top. 2 scale inches removed out of the front will angle the roof down more and give the aggressive evil look.

You can see the roof is less bubbly and has a nice angle to it. When you lower the roof, it increases the surface area of the roof so I used styrene to fill in the gaps. I had to cut the roof into four pieces to create the natural looking framework and fill in the inside gaps with the styrene.

The wheels are going to be 22/23 where the ones in this picture are 21/22 so I need to be careful the wheels dont look too big and the car look too small with a chopped roof and big wheels. It could go from evil to cartoony looking very quickly.

Thank you again for following this journey!!!!!!!
Andy

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Thanx for the intro Andy.. My kit has not arrived yet so im patiently waiting for it. My plans are similar to Andy's but a bit different too. Mine will be ice white with a modified BBS wheel. I will be adding a small front lip similar to the one in the picture.

I am starting my build with:
Revell Germany Ferrari 458
Hobby design P.e set.
Hobby design HD emblems
Hobby design exhaust tips
T2m BBS
T2m aluminum sleeves

No problem. Really, it is just to make it look meaner. It was not as much of a change as I imagined, but I didnt want to go too much and have it look awkward or bad.

Thanks Francesco!

Thanks Peter!!!!!!! Your Oakley 458 was and is a great inspiration. Great mind and unbelievable execution!!!! Super. I have to admit, mine will still be black, I am committed, but seeing yours in red was a serious temptation! Super work!

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

I love it; the good twin and bad twin! Nice thoughts and thank you for following! So much fun and excitement has filled my mind with ideas on these builds. I love to watch Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington, Ryan Friedlinghaus, Troy Trepanier do their MAGIC. I see that magic in builds done by and spotlighted by Raees on his blog, so you can imagine it is an honor to be involved with this and with Raees in every way..

Thank you all for following and letting your imagination follow and appreciate these builds.
Andy

Hmm it appear that woke the tandem-build monster. I wonder if there are any others in the works as we speak.....

I really like what you guys are doing here. It seems well thought out. Now show me more

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Thank you guys!

Progress is slowing as poor Raees still doesnt have his 458. He has all the parts, and has ordered a 2nd car to replace the one that is lost in the snow in the UK.

Here are the wheels for my car. They are the ADV as in the source inspiration pic and will be 22/23 set up. I am trying to push the envelope on the size to make this thing look super mean. Since the wheels will be black, they might tend to be hidden a little so the larger wheel will help it look big and offset the dark.

Thanks again and stay tuned!
Andy
