Smile 1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1300

Hi there! I've been modelling for a number of years now, but this will be my first one in about 6 years. I'm building this Tamiya kit as a gift for my brother-in-law and sister who bought an actual 1:1 Beetle and are completely restoring it. Theirs should be done within the next month or two and I hope mine will be too.

I'm still not sure what color the interior will be (I believe red), but the body will be VW Toga White.

So far I've been working on the engine and will start on the body soon.

Reference pictures of the actual car so far:

Thanks for looking

Great project, It's always good to have reference material close at hand.

True My mom took a bunch of reference pics and I'll be getting them soon. In the mean time I'm gonna work on the body.

Thanks for all the kind words! More updates this week.

Re: 1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1300

So I've been working on the model a bit but having some issues with paint (further details here):

I've decided to start over with these parts and will see if I can get my hands on some isopropyl alcohol here in Korea to strip off the paint.

Also, I'm wondering if TS-7 is the correct color or if I should go for TS-26. Since the original car isn't pure white, rather just a little off-white, ideally I'd mix TS-7 with TS-26 but since I don't have an airbrush that'll be hard to do. I'm gonna prime everything in white and see how the TS-7 turns out.

The reference car is finished by the way. Here's a pic of it with some winter gear on the roof and rear of the car
