Re: Big T does the RB6!
I think you might be a bit off Mike, when it comes to the "lack of detail under the engine cover". *ALL* cars are like this today--shrouds over everything and no exposed wires or electronics. The cars just aren't like they were back in the '80s and '90s. They are completely different animals with completely different technology. This is still an accurate kit, even though it looks as though there is nothing under the cover. Unfortunately, that's what all cars and makers are doing now.
Now, as for taking the shrouds off--that's a whooooooole different animal!

Re: Big T does the RB6!
What I was referring to was more of the engine detailing and all that goes with it. Now, we all know many of T's kits (esp F1) aren't always the most accurate or are accurate for one race only. I think that's the case here. Surely with as much as the exhausts moved around that the plumbing changed and heck--as noted above, T most certainly could have done some artistic interpretation of it's own plumbing. Who knows.
My point is that there isn't too much displayed when the body is off anymore. Sure, there are a few wires, etc., that one can add but that's always the case with T's kits. (That's why I like 'em!) Plus, in '10 these things like the F-ducting, exhausts, etc., were evolving race to race. They hardly ever had the same car two races in a row without some change. I would imagine that's why it's so hard to make a model of a modern F1 car now. By season's end, it could look completely different!

Re: Big T does the RB6!
I think it's a great kit, but as noted, lot of detail is missing (nothing to bad, Fujimi don'T even care with engine)
I canceled my preorder and I will wait to see if TopStudio or any other are doing detailing kit for it.

Re: Big T does the RB6!
Tamiya is also releasing a new spray TS-89 Pearl Blue for RB6. I'm just wondering if this new color fits the Revell A4 DTM RB livery as well.

Re: Big T does the RB6!
Looks nice but still way too expensive for a 'simple' kit.
Also.... Is that a 'sink' mark I can see on the body section near the nose??? An awkward one to fill if it is, given the surrounding panel lines and shape. Roy. |

Re: Big T does the RB6!
I really don't see the point of adding the engine at all..?? Might as well have molded it closed. There really is nothing to see, or detail, in a modern F1 engine...

Re: Big T does the RB6!
From what I've read about the development of these cars you could even go so far to ask, "What time did you take that picture?" because teams reportedly would fabricate various parts at the track.

Re: Big T does the RB6!
Has anyone seen the TS-89 available anywhere yet?

Re: Big T does the RB6!
Yes, in Japan.
I remember Tamiya America didn't take too long to stock TS-85 when the F60 kit came out, so it's probably the same, like within a few months. |

Re: Big T does the RB6!
There are a LOT of sink marks in such places as the rear wing end plates. Never mind, nothing a skim of filler won't fix. A shame Tamiya aren't going the way of people like Dragon and having separate little tabs for their mould-release parts though.
