Big T does the RB6!

Yep, you read that right--just saw on another board that Tamiya is releasing in November the Red Bull from '10! I never thought it would happen but it's coming and with it's very own spray paint. Retail is projected to be 5500Y. Looks to be a really nice kit...

Re: Big T does the RB6!

Excellent news! I've been wanting to build the RB6 or RB7 for sometime now. Cannot wait for this kit. Although, I have a feeling the front wing is going to be utter crap and completely out of scale. I really hope the detail is close to that of the MP4/X series kits. I'm assuming it will be 1/20?

This might have to be the first kit I have pre-ordered in years. Any ideas where to pre-order? I just checked HLJ and they don't have it listed yet.

EDIT: I haven't seen anything on Tamiya's site and after all the disputes about RedBull licensing decals is making me wonder if this is anything more than just a rumor.

Re: Big T does the RB6!

Judging by the "confidentiality statement" they might be making an announcement of the kit on Monday.

I had the same thoughts before seeing the statement you posted.

One of the cool things is they are making the nose cone removable so that you can see the footbox and all the gizmos underneath. Quite cool and unexpected....

Re: Big T does the RB6!

It's not fake. They are taking pre orders already on Hobby Easy. The information came from a reliable source on another modelling forum. They are also doing the 1984 Honda NSR 500 GP bike in 1/12th scale.

There are lots of really cool releases and re-releases out soon, such as:

Mazda 787b
MP4/27
F2012
1988 Yamaha WGP 500
1988 Suzuki WGP 500
Red Bull RB6
2011 DTM Audis
etc., etc., etc.

Just an awesome time right now!

I know Revell has released the 2011 Audi DTM, but disappointingly this was just a re-box of the 2009 kit with new livery.

Yep, except there were no changes (or VERY minor ones) to the cars in that period...I think I read where they must keep the cars the same until next year? Something like that.

Re: Big T does the RB6!

New pictures, I'm actually quite impressed with the level of detail in the front wing and it might not take as much work as I suspected. Judging by the front wing and the mirrors this looks to be the setup ran at Barcelona GP. I am however, extremely disappointed with the work under the engine cover. That's going to be an immense level of scratch building to come close to the detail of the MP4/6 kit...and reference pictures of the Renault engine are difficult to find.

Gorgeous box art.

Nice to see some photoetch included

Looks like Cartograf did some nice decals

It will be a decent kit, but the lack of detail under the engine cover is disappointing. Plenty of work ahead to be able to display this with the engine cover off, that's for sure.
