Another approach is to harvest some good cables from a junker. Use the terminal clamps and about a foot of the attached cable as a repair patch. Run the patch cables parrallel to the originals and clamp the two cables together in about three spots.

Well, the new battery has everything working fine again. It almost seems like a weak battery causes other issues with the electrical system, like increasing current draw. Sliding doors are acting normal again, they used to pop open after closing with the old battery.
