1989 Chevy c1500 5.7l 2wd 1/2ton EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM!!!!

Recently, the emergency brake will no longer hold and engage on my 1989 c1500. i feel the parking brake applying pressure but cannot keep the parking brake down and it just shoots back up after pressing on it. i also noticed that the emergency brake light flashes on the dashboard constantly and inconsistently. any ideas on how to fix this???!? thanks

with the emergency brake cabin foot pedal not staying down this is usually because it is worn out. could be the release spring or other parts of that section in the mechanism.

replace with a scrap yard unit .

the dash light would be part of this mechanism. usually a bad ground wire.
