The long drawn out Sessanta build continues...

A few pics of work carried out to the engine bay which was done about a year ago.









































Body has been sprayed today in the Grigio Scurro and Nero Daytona colour combination and awaiting a coat of lacquer.

Looks great! Can you explain briefly how you make the blue cap shown on the pictures? How did you manage to keep the white pieces from breaking off the cap as you machine them down?

Sure!...Its just a piece of sprue and has been machined to shape in my minicraft motor tool. This has a variable speed transformer which allows it to turn at low speeds for more control and avoid building up too much heat from the friction. The plastic is machined using the tip of an x-acto and/or files depending on the task. After the white strips of styrene were glued they were in turn delicately shaped by turning against some fine sandpaper.

It was a while ago when I did that part and Im pretty sure it took a couple of attempts. Well worth the effort though!
