Boxster, Z4, G35, or 128?

Hey all,

I'm looking into trading in my 2004 BMW 325i for something newer, fewer miles, and a bit more fun. In particular, I have been looking into the Boxster, Z4, G35, and the 128i. I'm looking to spend low to mid-20s.

I've been leaning towards the Z4 3.0si because it's the fastest, gorgeous interior, all around nice car. I have some experience with BMWs, as I own one now, and I really like them.

The Boxster is very enticing, but I'm a little afraid of what it might run me for repairs and maintenance. I would have to go for a 2003 or maybe a 2004 if I want to get one with low mileage in my price range. Anyone have any experience with them? I drove one today (automatic, boo) and didn't think the brakes felt very responsive? Also, slower than the Z4.

The G35 is something I just threw on my list because I spoke with a CarMax salesman and he said that they are awesome. I've never driven one yet. I tend not to like the fit and finish of Japanese cars in comparison to German ones. Would probably be less expensive to maintain however?

The 128i - this one is kind of on the fringe to be honest. I actually am one of the few that likes the look of the car. I've never driven one and plan on at least test driving it.

I also test drove a 370Z, but didn't really care for the interior look.

This car will be a daily driver for me, but I don't need the room. I use my girlfriends car for long trips and all.

Any thoughts? Any cars that I should consider?

This is a difficult quest to select one car from this list as all cars present a prefect view in front of my eyes, I will advise to analyze cars on the basis of budget you have for the purchase of it. This may sound weird to you but this can be a thought to analyze products before purchase.

It's really going to come down to your preference. All the cars listed are going to be fairly expensive to insure and maintain, but given that you already are used to that it won't change by too much regardless of your choice.

Let us know what you finally decide!
