Turn signal wires, would this work?

Okay so I got some new aftermarket headlights today. Basically, this was suppose to be a plug and play type deal, and it was until I got to the blinkers. The stock male end does not fit the female aftermarket end. The stock one as three wires: red, green, and black. The aftermarket has blue and black. So I researched this, and turns out on the stock end, the red wire is for the blinkers, the green wire is for the running lights (this makes the turn-signal bulbs come on at night and glow, but not blink), and the black is ground. So basically if I cut the stock male end off, and put the red and green wires in a female rod connector and crimped them, and attached them directly to the positive rod on the other female end, and then attached the ground to of course the ground. Would that work? The only flaw I see is that it seems that the blinkers might not work at night.. If they are already on by the running lights, and I flipped the blinker switch, it doesn't seem like they would blink if they were already on.. What do you guys think?
