1998 chevy Silverado Torque Converter Slipping

I recently rebuilt my trans(4l60) in my truck. The torque converter was slipping and I couldnt fixed it so I took it to a transmission shop to have them fix it. To make a long story short they did everything to it that is a known problem like new TCC, bored valve in valvebody, etc. They tore the tranny down and didnt find anthing wrong with it, so they put another new converter in it. the problem got better but it still didnt fix it. Has anybody had this problem? if so how did ya fix it? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

have another recommended transmission shop diagnose the problem. this is a standard problem . lock up not working can also be electrical wiring/switch issues.

so did they give you your money back since they failed to repair this ?

how much $$$ to attempt to repair ? what was the warrantee time ?

Re: 1998 chevy Silverado Torque Converter Slipping

They are a bunch of good guys. I trust them, thats what they do, they have 6 bays and thats all they work on is transmissions. Its a 2nd generation shop. They already checked the voltage and the other common problems that normally cause this but it isnt fixing it. The problem is, I dont know of another shop as good as these guys. What is going on is the converter was locking up just fine when I got it back then four days later I took it out on the highway for a 30 mile round trip and it started to shutter again. It would shutter and then stop, shutter and stop. It doesnt matter if its going uphill, downhill or flat. its not as bad as when I took it in there but its still there. I know it will burn it up if it keeps doing that. After work today I went on another small highway drive(5 miles) and it didnt do it. I called them and they said to drop it off. Looks like I will be walking for a while until I get it back. I will update as soon as they find the problem.

Re: 1998 chevy Silverado Torque Converter Slipping

so this has no warrantee ..........

their having a great repair shop with work not guaranteed is not much help for you. they may have done nothing wrong.

PARTS MADE TODAY FROM SOME SUPPLIERS ARE DEFECTIVE .

If they use these cheap chinese parts this could be why this occured ..could be other reasons. perhaps they did not properly flush the transmission lines/radiator properly etc..
