1998 Chevy Silverado Fuel Pump

Hey everyone. Fuel pump went out on 1998 chevy Silverado PU. Is it easier to remove the bed or drop the tank? Any advise on either system would be helpful. Thanks

I have always dropped the tank and will continue to, but have heard from many that remove the bed. I always work by myself so that plays into it.

If you have the extra help to pick up the bed then that might be the way to go.

i just did mine last weekend, lift off the bed. it is easier to remove the two rear tires, the bumper and slide the bed back about 2 ft this will give you access to the pump.

I agree to remove the bed. It makes accessing the lines much easier, and reduces the risk of breaking them or the strap bolts. If the tank is more than a 1/4 full, you don't have to drain the fuel either.
