According to whom? Sorry for the bad pun (nah, not really) but the Accord's hit the top of the list for the same reason that the Pinto did, they are worth more in parts than they are whole, on the used car market. A 1994 Accord is worth $844 in good conditon or as low as $500 in fair condition. A salvage yard can part one out for double that.

Just according to 00accord assuming based on the limited production run of the pinto compared to the massive quantities of accords sold over 3 decades.

Really though, the parting out case can be made for just about any 18 year old vehicle. That doesn't make it a rolling disaster. I get the feeling we will have to agree to disagree here but if we were to get down to the nuts and bolts, the cost of ownership and related reliability stats would show that the accord is one of the better cars you could own...even if it never gets you nods at stop lights (which mine did )

Oh yeah, the vaunted reliability of the Honda is one of the reasons I always recommended it as a ladies car. No leaks, very reliable, just take it in for routine maintenance and have a boring drive about in the mean time.

Re: Most Stolen Cars

Wait wait wait...first the accord is a terrible car not worth its weight in scrap metal, and now its exceptionally reliable..... but only suitable for women??

I wonder would we have even had this episode if my name was 00camry44... or would it have just been the same but about toyotas. Hmmmmmm

Can't argue with that, I believe the Accord is one of the most boring cars in the world, boringly reliable, boring to drive, boring to own.

I say one of the most, because the Camry has it pretty well beaten.

Boring to own?? I don't even know what that means. I would imagine that as one of the historically most stolen cars, it would be rather exciting.... wondering if it will still be there when you come back.
