Emergency I NEED HELP PLZ

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Emergency hepl needed please Hi i have a 2000 honda civic si... which is lowered and since the winter is coming i need to bring it back up and need a set of springs and struts. but i don't know if my engine is sohc or dohc..Here is a picture of my engine and could you guys tell me if it is sohc or dohc..... http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/...8971149562.jpg  and if anyone as stock springs and struts that will fit my car.. i am willing to buy it also my gear box is really stiff going into reverse and i really have to use alot of power to put it into reverse... does anyone know what might be wrong and also i was driving today after warming up my car for about 5 minutes and realized in the middle of my drive that my engine thermometer went to cold and stayed their for a while and when i starting playing with the a/c it went back to normal and then went back to cold and it would got up and down.... doees anyone know what that might be

SOHC. Looks like a D16Y8 to me more specific (based on the intake manifold).
Not sure exactly why it's tough to get into reverse. My car does the same thing. What I do is let the car roll backwards a little, and it seems to go into gear fine after that. I'm absolutely positive it's a SOHC engine. If you do a google image search for a B16a or B18b, you'll see what the older ('89-'01) Honda/Acura DOHC engines look like. Likewise, if you search for D16, you'll see the SOHC engines, which is like yours. You can also check the engine code on the front of your engine as well, to do a more detailed search for specs on your exact engine. There is a flat part on the front of your engine, where the engine meets the transmission, about half way down the block. The bigger stamped letters and numbers are what's important.
Not sure why the exact engine would make a difference for suspension though, as far as I'm aware, all '96-'00 Civics shocks & springs are compatible.

The front ones will work, but the rear isn't a perfect fit. In order to get the rears to work, you'll need to add some kind of spacer on each side of the bushing, of the rear lower control arms. The '92-'95 Civics have wider rear lower control arms, and bushings, than the '96-'00 Civics do. So the forks (for lack of a better word) on the '92-'95 shocks are also spaced further apart than the '96-'00 ones. So you can make them work, but if you want a no hassle fit, you should get them for a '96-'00 Civic. But if you do get the 5th gen suspension ('92-'95), just remember to put spacers evenly on both sides of the bushing, so your suspension isn't jacked too far one way or another.
