3.0 96 Windstar front "clunc"
Hi all,
my Windstar is a bit "clunky" at the front axle. When I stop and turn the wheels right, than a clunk noise appears from both front struts or somewhere there. Whe I turn left, the same. But if I woul'd like to try it when stopped, nothing. Only if I have just stopped or after axceleration. I bought new struts, wheel bearings, upper strut bearings hoping to fix this. The arms, steering joints, stabiliyers are OK, mostly changed few months ago. Any other hints? Thanks a lot to Europe :-) |

Re: 3.0 96 Windstar front "clunc"
I know you say the connecting rods are all OK. But I needed to have mine changed several years ago to fix a similar problem. I seem to remember them being "verticle" but can't recall what they attached too. But they were about 10 inches long, and had the spherical bearings on both ends. I found them to be bad because the rubber boots were deteriorated, and the grease was gone.
Good luck, Steve

Yes, I believe that is what they were.
